"L-Luc slow down… it's too much!"
Diluc grunts, restraining his animalistic pace and opting for more languid thrusts, grinding his hips down into the curves of Kaeya’s ass. The heat of the room is almost unbearable, scorching his skin and making sweat drip down his back.
The air conditioning had been broken for a few days now, so Kaeya wanted to hold off from any sort of action beyond kisses and touches. But the sight of Kaeya in a loose shirt— Diluc’s shirt —with peeking collarbones and sweaty bangs was too much for him to handle; and before he could help himself he was already pinning Kaeya to the wall, grinding his hips against Kaeya’s own growing boner. He had even resisted, pouting over the sweltering heat, but Diluc could sense Kaeya’s own resolve weakening by the way he was trying not to move his hips and the hand clutching tight onto Diluc’s sleeve.
Needless to say, Kaeya had given in very quickly afterwards, and the rest was history.
“Kaeya… Kae… hah….” Diluc pants, laying a hand on the small of Kaeya’s back as he continuously thrusts into the tight heat. A hit to a particular spot makes Kaeya clench around him and he moans in pleasure.
“Kaeya… So fucking good for me…”
“Ah…. Ahh… hah, Diluc, p-please I’m gonna—“ Kaeya’s soft begging is cut off as he moans long and loud, back arching underneath Diluc’s hand as pleasure suddenly overtakes him. He cums on the sheets, body shaking from the intense sensations. But Diluc doesn't stop his thrusts and speeds up instead, wrapping his arms around Kaeya’s waist and lifting him slightly off the bed as he pounds harder into him. Kaeya cries out and screams, squirming in the redhead’s grip as he sobs from the overstimulation.
“Just— Just a little more Kaeya…” Diluc gasps, body tense as he brings down Kaeya on his dick a little harder than usual. He’s so close— so damn close and Kaeya’s heat is so addicting he can’t get enough of it. His chest pressed against Kaeya’s back is slicked with sweat from both of their bodies, and it ramps up the heat in the room. He’s normally particular about hygiene, but god Kaeya looks and feels so sexy and downright irresistible drenched in so much sweat and cum that Diluc finds himself not caring anymore. There’s a certain level of debauchery in the image and sensations surrounding them that Diluc finds unparalleled pleasure for, that when Kaeya wails and squirts clear water instead of the usual cum Diluc is pushed hard over the edge. He grunts as he comes, biting down on the nape beneath him and feeling every inch of Kaeya’s skin as he trembles and hiccups in his hold.
It takes a few moments before they finally come down from their high and Kaeya stops shaking in Diluc’s arms. They’re still both panting, exhausted from the rough round of sex. If this was any normal day, they would’ve continued for several more rounds, but Diluc finds that the extra level of heat sapped him of his energy pretty quickly, and from the looks of it, so did Kaeya’s.
When he finally catches his breath, Diluc kisses the nape of his lover beneath him—right exactly where he bit him just moments earlier—and slips out of Kaeya. The man whimpers at the movement and subsequent emptiness, but Diluc is quick to shush and comfort him, gently massaging his lover's aching lower back with one free hand and brushing aside his hair over one shoulder with the other to trail more of his kisses up Kaeya's neck ever so slightly. He sighs after a few moments, lifting himself off Kaeya and lying on his side on the extra space left in the bed as he takes in the beautiful sight of his lover, sweat-covered and bruised in several areas where Diluc was a little too rough on him. He tucks in a damp lock of hair behind Kaeya’s ear to admire his beauty further, and smiles when Kaeya—still slightly winded—huffs at him affectionately.
“Surely you couldn’t wait a few more days?” Kaeya pouts, looking up at Diluc through sweaty bangs.
“It's your fault for wearing my shirt," Diluc mutters, trailing the back of his fingers softly over his lover’s cheeks. “You know what that does to me.”
"Oh c'mon, will you also get horny if I wear this out in public?"
"Kaeya, I believe there's a difference when you wear my shirt with pants and when you wear my shirt with nothing else ."
Kaeya giggles and Diluc’s eyes soften, weak to the sound of Kaeya’s unrestrained laughter. He loves these small moments with his lover—moments where they simply talk about nonsensical things in their lives and enjoy each other’s presence to the fullest. The skin of Diluc’s palm burns, but not in a searing way just like moments prior. It burns with a soft warmth, like the cozy heat of a fireplace in one chilly afternoon. Granted, the humid afternoon may have had a say in it, but Diluc is too engrossed in tracing every single one of Kaeya’s features—soft, relaxed and willingly vulnerable—that he figures he can be nonsensical with himself as well for another moment of his life.
God, he loves this man so much—flaws and all. Their journey till this point has not been easy one bit, but if it meant getting to this point of his life, then maybe all that hardship was worth it.
(But a part of him aches, because while he will never take Kaeya for granted—in another life, in another universe, another Diluc had made that very mistake.)
He shakes away the small thought and props himself up with his elbows. Smoothing back the bangs that stick to Kaeya's face, he bends down and kisses his forehead.
"Shower?" he asks.
“ God yes, please. I feel disgusting" Kaeya groans as he untangles himself from Diluc and swings his feet over his side of the bed. “I’m going first!”
‘Disgusting’ is an understatement for sure—the hot weather was already enough for them to sweat up a storm normally, but without the AC the heat was almost unbearable. Plus, coupled with the whole thing where Diluc pounced on Kaeya despite said weather yada yada, he can feel the way his skin stuck to each other grossly. Diluc’s face contorts into a grimace—he may not have regretted the intense sex, but present-him may have slightly regretted doing it in the middle of a hot afternoon.
But that part doesn’t matter. What does matter is what’s happening right at this very moment, because then Diluc catches Kaeya’s expression, who is wearing a contemplating yet cunning smile. Putting up a finger to lips curled up in mischievousness, Kaeya smirks at him.
“Or… would you rather go inside together?”
Well, that was simply a no-brainer, wasn’t it?

“H-hey Diluc…
If… if the world could ever give us a second chance…
Do you think… I can see you again?”
Diluc wakes up in cold sweat, chest heaving with silent gasps as he rides out the remainder of terror that gripped him in his nightmares. On instinct, he reaches out and turns to his left, where Kaeya usually takes up the rest of the space—and his blood goes cold the moment he feels nothing but bedsheets and rumpled blankets.
(He’s gone— no no no he can’t be gone—)
It takes a few seconds for him to act, still gripped by the fear that had taken root in his dreams. When he gets himself together, Diluc shakily gets out of the bed and silently pads over to the door, heart in his throat.
The bathroom lights weren't on, so there was no way Kaeya could be there. Belatedly, he notices that Kaeya’s phone is also nowhere to be found on the bedside table, which could only mean he was either in the dining table or kitchen—but it wasn’t until Diluc opens the door and light streams in from the direction of the kitchen that the fear abates ever so slightly.
With quiet footsteps, Diluc heads towards the kitchen, not realizing how tensed up he was until he sees Kaeya with his own eyes—sitting on the chair behind the countertop with a mug near him—and his shoulders finally relax.
“Diluc?” Kaeya calls out in a soft tone, surprised and concerned. “Is everything alright? It’s been a while since you’ve woken up at this hour.” He gets up and pads over to where Diluc stands, a little bit entranced at the sight of Kaeya (all grown up and free from blood and rain). Blue irises shine in worry as Kaeya cups his hands over Diluc’s cheeks, half to check his temperature and half a gesture of comfort. The redhead only closes his eyes and leans into the touch; grasping Kaeya’s hands like a lifeline.
“I’m fine, love—it’s just the usual nightmare I get once in a while,” he mumbles. “I’ll be okay.”
And really—he does not lie. Things are alright and everything is as it should be at this very moment.
(It's just that nothing went right then , and Diluc had never noticed he'd lost sight of what was important until everything was lost.)
Thin arms snake around his waist and gently pull him close. He reciprocates the action, wrapping his arms around Kaeya’s shoulders and just basking in the presence of his lover.
“I’m always here if you need me,” Kaeya says in a low tone, quiet and gentle to Diluc’s ears. “And even if you don’t need me, I’ll always stay by your side because I love you anyways.”
Kaeya giggles softly as he says it, but Diluc is just glad for their position where Kaeya couldn’t see his face, because his eyes suddenly burn with unshed tears.
The tightening of his arms around the smaller man’s body is enough of a giveaway at least, and Kaeya starts rubbing his back in long strokes.
God, when did he ever deserve this man?
(Never. He never deserved this man. He’s done him wrong already a whole lifetime ago, and that had cost Kaeya his life.
Granted, it was a lifetime ago, but that Diluc was still this Diluc ; and that Diluc had torn that second chance apart and set it on fire with his own hands until all that remained was a lifeless, broken body in his arms.)
“Oh!” Kaeya’s exclaim brings Diluc back into the present, and the redhead looks down to see his lover untangling himself from the embrace before going towards one of the dining chairs and pulling out a box he hadn’t noticed. Blue hair swishes slightly from side to side as Kaeya excitedly rushes over to present it to Diluc, beaming.
“I had meant to give this to you in the morning, but I figured giving it now counts since it’s past midnight anyways.” Kaeya’s tone is cheeky and playful, but his eyes are nothing but loving and gentle. Diluc finds himself chuckling despite it all, and takes the small box from Kaeya.
Opening the box, Diluc is stunned as he is greeted by the sight of a brooch—one with a muted red gemstone sitting proudly in the center.
It’s so similar to what he wore in the past—the one which his father had left behind—that Diluc is left speechless.
More than that, this brooch had been in his possession at one point—a Rangvindr heirloom, his father of this life had called it. But it had been lost so it shouldn’t be possible for it to be here in this moment—
“I know you were enraged when my family had pawned off some of your father’s belongings after he died,” Kaeya began in a quiet voice. “And I’ve always felt regret over that. They had no right to do that to you. So I’ve been working all this time to bring them back one by one—at least, the ones I remember… Do you like it?”
In response, Diluc said nothing. He simply set down the small box and kissed Kaeya full on, immediately taking the chance to slip his tongue in over the surprised yelp that escaped Kaeya’s lips.
When they break apart minutes later, both are flushed and breathing heavily.
“ ‘Like it’?” Diluc asks incredulously. “Kaeya I love it .”
For all his effort in keeping his emotions at bay moments prior, the tears freely slip out of his red eyes, scrunched in many indescribable and overwhelming emotions. He forces down a strangled sob as he embraces Kaeya one more time. “ W hat did I do to deserve you?”
“Don’t be silly, ‘Luc.” the other man chuckles, but it’s a wet sounding laugh that’s accompanied with trembling arms that rub his back one more time. “And Happy Valentines, you big oaf.”

(He first meets Kaeya again in the pouring rain—and that irony is in no way lost on Diluc. He can’t help but see flashes of phantom blood on the man’s body, but the melodious sound of his voice calling out to him—clear and sweet-sounding to ears that have not heard it in decades—are what makes the tears fall.
When Diluc proposes to Kaeya, it is also under the weight of heavy rain. Diluc thinks that maybe this is the universe’s way of apologizing for all the pain it had caused all those years ago, but he doesn’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth.
When Kaeya’s family disowns him, Diluc is there by his side. When his family commits unforgivable crimes against his father, Kaeya is the first one to profusely apologize, begging Diluc to let him take the blame because it was his fault everything happened in the first place. The Ragnvindr aches in him even as he shushes his lover, because the desperate tears somewhat reminds him of Kaeya’s tearful parting words under the rain a lifetime ago.
Diluc doesn’t think he can ever forgive himself for his actions—not when he was unable to apologize to the Kaeya of so long ago. But if it means getting more chances to spend more time with him, he would look for kaeya in every single life he lives through.
And maybe, just maybe, the pain will ease with each lifetime spent together with him.)
