It Might Be You

Summary:

When Suguru starts developing a crush for Haibara, Gojo decides to take matters into his own hands and creates crazy schemes with Nanami to stop their relationship from progressing. Things don't go as planned.

And Nanami should have just said no from the start.

Work Text:

“What?” The tone of his voice is incredulous, it’s as if the idea Gojo proposed was just undeniably insane and unnerving to the ears.

Nanami squints at him, fingers indenting on the buns of his sandwich like a lifeline. It was in the middle of their lunch break when Gojo decided to slip in the deserted table that only had the company of a lone blond.

“You heard me right the first time,” with a sly wink, Gojo adds, “I need your help.”

It takes time for the information to sink in Nanami’s brain, which could only question; What the hell was going on with his senpai?

He and Gojo were not friends. Merely acquaintances at best. Their schedules never bother to mix with each other, and their classes would not coincide during the two years he’s been in the college.

So why now..?

“Elaborate.” He says after taking a bite of his choripán. While the rest of his peaceful lunch was already wasted by the chattering of his senior, he was not going to let his food be soiled.

Gojo clasps his hands together, delighted that Nanami was going to indulge in his request. He removes his sunglasses so that it wouldn’t obscure the sight of the younger male in front of him. “So a little birdie of mine, told me that you have a crush on Haibara~!”

Precisely as those words left Gojo’s mouth, Nanami felt the chunks of food go down the wrong pipe. Eyes tearing up from the sudden sharpness in his lungs, he let out a half-sob and coughed it out on his napkin.

“Judging by that reaction, I guess my little birdie was right?” Gojo sounds so smug, and even has the audacity to smirk at Nanami instead of helping him.

The blond grunts, “Are you trying to blackmail me for liking another guy, Gojo-senpai?”

Raising his arms in defense, Gojo shook his head. “No! I’m on the same boat!” Nanami narrows his eyes and Gojo retracts his statement, “Wait no, I don’t like Haibara — If that’s where you’re getting at. I like Suguru and yes, I’m bisexual.”

Nanami sighs in relief but that was quickly replaced by a stern glare, “What does this have to do with you needing my help?”

There were only two things that could have been the possible answer to his question. Gojo either needed his help in matchmaking, or the senior already had a plan in mind and that involved him and Haibara somehow.

On cue, the white-haired male leans closer, glancing around the area to make certain no one could hear his words. And dramatically, he moves his mouth right next to Nanami’s ears, “There’s an annual spring dance for the second and third years. This year however, Yaga-sensei told us it was going to be merged into one setting.”

This wasn’t going to end well.

Before anything else could be said, Nanami yanked himself away from Gojo’s intruding distance. He pinched the bridge of his nose and heaved out another sigh, “If what I’m thinking is correct, I’m going to assume you want to set all four of us up?”

“No, just me and Suguru, but you’re happy to oblige yourself.”

He cocks his head, “Then why include Yu in this?”

There was something dangerous hidden behind Gojo’s cerulean optics, a feral glint, nothing Nanami has ever seen before, and he wonders what Haibara did in order to rile up someone like Gojo.

“They have a few classes together, and they get along well.” Gojo rolls his eyes, chin planted on the palm of his hand.

“Are you suspecting that they like-” Nanami asks as his eyebrows furrow carefully.

Gojo interrupts him, “Yes, at least Suguru does. He hasn’t stopped talking about Haibara ever since they got paired up during a science project.”

Oh.

It’s all his brain could supply aside from the sound of his heart shattering somewhere down his chest. He was not going to lie, it hurts but Nanami knew that he had no chance from the beginning. He’s happy for them.. but a selfish voice in his head wanted to learn more about whatever Gojo was conducting.

And yet..

Nanami stood up from the table, taking his tray with him. “Apologies, but I’m not going to destroy their happiness, just because you’re in love with someone who won’t return your sentiments.”

He refuses to look behind him, refuses to check what Gojo’s facial expression could be. Nanami could feel the intense gaze though, he could feel the burning on his back if it was put into a literal sense.

It was after that, when Gojo’s words began to haunt Nanami like a mantra. Of course it doesn’t perturb him but it does linger in the gaping hole where his heart used to be located.

The blond sees them everywhere.

Instead of Gojo, he was replaced by Haibara, and instead of Nanami, he was replaced by Geto.

Nanami forces a polite nod when they pass him by the corridors, and into their shared class. Not far behind, was Gojo holding the strap of his backpack, looking away from the scene.

“You’ve been avoiding me, what’s wrong, Kento?” Haibara pouts, puppy eyes pinning him defenseless. Exactly a week and two days since he last saw Gojo. Their first and only real conversation.

“I’m not avoiding you.”

Haibara pouts even more. “You’ve declined my invitations to pizza night! Twice in a row now.”

Internally, Nanami winces. If he was going to be honest, he had been avoiding Haibara like the plague. But that was only because wherever Haibara was, Geto lingered behind. He buries his nose once more on the book he recently bought, “I don’t like junk.” He mumbles quietly, flipping another page.

“Okay fair, but I really want you to meet my friend! His name is Sug-”

The book in his hand snaps shut abruptly, it echoes in the small space of Nanami's dorm.

“When do you want me to meet him?”

“Oh uhm any time this week is good, you could use a new friend y’know.”

“All right.” Nanami says, fully aware that he'll regret this sooner or later.

‘Any time this week’ actually meant tomorrow after class. Really, he loves Haibara to the stars and the moon, but sending him a text when the day was almost over was a bit uncanny. His eyes scan over the sea of people inside the cafeteria, thankfully it didn’t take him that long to find the person he was looking for.

“Gojo-senpai.” The blond utters in greeting, his head bowing in formality.

Gojo raised a brow in return, “Have you finally changed your mind?”

Unbelievable.

“No.” Wordlessly, he dragged the male along with him. Gojo didn’t struggle, instead he followed Nanami, aching similar to a curious dog who ventured with its master.

It took them a matter of minutes to get out of the building, Gojo does not say anything, except remove his hand from Nanami’s hold so that he could shove it in his pocket.

The realization only hits when they’re outside the dorms. The senior inhales quietly.

“This is Suguru’s dorm.”

“So it seems.”

“What are we doing here?” Finally, Gojo looks at Nanami, eye to eye.

“I was invited. And I thought you would like to come along.” Or, Nanami didn’t want to come by himself, and he brought Gojo to suffer with him.

Pursing his lips into a thin line, Gojo turns on his heel, and is about to make a run for it when a voice calls them out.

“Satoru! You didn’t tell me you and Nanami knew each other already.” Geto smiles warmly at them, and it makes Gojo sick but he could only nod.

“We’re boyfriends actually.”

Nanami’s eyes widen for a split second, as his face contorts to conceal his shocked expression.

Did he just hear Gojo correctly?

“And you didn’t bother to tell me? Congratulations though bastard.” Geto ushers them inside, where Haibara had been waiting patiently with a bowl of chips bundled safely in his arms, on the floor of Geto’s living room.

“Kento! Oh you brought a friend with you?” The bubbly teenager asks, a crescent smile etched in his mouth. Gojo was glad that he was wearing sunglasses, or else that would have blinded him.

“His boyfriend, actually.” Geto corrects, plopping right beside Haibara. Nanami and Gojo notice how he slings his arm casually around Haibara’s shoulder, and then grabs a handful of junk.

Nanami nods, sighing tiredly. It was already too far deep to explain things. He glared at Gojo as he made his way to sit down on the end of the couch, “Gojo-senpai is my boyfriend, yes. That said, I still do not respect him.”

A crestfallen look replaces Gojo’s irritating smirk. He pouts stubbornly and nudges Nanami to the side so he could sit beside him. Nanami blinks and offers a questioning glance at Gojo. “What were you thinking?” He nearly hisses but it comes out as a harsh whisper.

Gojo shrugs, letting himself slump on Nanami’s shoulder. Might as well play the part, he thinks. “I’ll explain later, babe.” Things only escalate from there when the silver yead plants a kiss on his lips. It was only there for a second, yet Nanami could still taste the cherry gloss on his own.

The other two seem convinced, judging by their rebuttal and complaints of ‘PDA’. Gojo laughs aloud, grabbing an unopened bag of chips. For the rest of the evening Nanami was quiet. He knew he felt a migraine when he saw one, and that happened to be Gojo Satoru.

He was right; This wasn’t going to end well at all.

Everyone was asleep by the time Nanami had stirred on the couch. He squints in the darkness, reaching out for his phone. It read 2:00 and immediately, he froze. Beside him Gojo squirms, mumbling something incoherent.

“Yanno Nanami, I’m trying to sleep here.” Gojo says after a minute of Nanami scrolling on his phone.

“I didn’t think it would be a problem. Also you’re not exactly light , please remove your leg from my hip, Gojo-san.”

“What happened to senpai?” Gojo probes, and though he couldn’t see from this angle, he knew Gojo was smirking from that sentence alone.

“What happened to babe?” He shoots back, harsher than he intended it to be.

Gojo tenses, lowering his voice into a whisper, “An act. I’m sorry for springing that up on you.”

Nanami growls in frustration, “Sorry can’t bring back the fact that we lied to them. What would this even achieve?”

“Jealousy? Look, I know you’re still hung up on Haibara, and I’m still hung up on Suguru. So, I thought that maybe if we started “dating” each other, one of them would come back running.” The senior explains, as if it was just that easy. Nanami looks at him like a deer in headlights.

“Are you actually stupid?”

“Wha- hey now! Let’s see you try to come up with a better plan then.”

The blond feigns a sigh, he shuts off his phone and drops his arm to his face. “I told you before, I’m content with this. As long as Yu is happy with Geto, I’m all right.”

“Just one chance.” Gojo pleads, he eyes Nanami intently, “The night before the dance, if we can change their feelings by then, it’ll be to both of our advantage. You get to have Haibara and I get to have Suguru to myself, we’ll end up dancing and being happy for the rest of our lives.”

Skeptical by the preposition, Nanami nibbles on his lower lip. He shifts his face ever so slightly, and from there, his nose is touching Gojo’s chin.

“What do you suggest we do then?”

“Is that a confirmation?”

Was it? Was he really okay with ruining someone’s love story so could be selfish for once?

“Yes.”

When he looks at Yu, it was a different feeling. It was like looking at the sun, and he couldn’t help but be entranced by his radiating aura. Still, he knows Geto must have been pulled in the same way. Even now, as his gaze fell to the floor, he could see the outlines of their body, pressed together so intimately. In an embrace that didn’t seem to be platonic at all.

“That’s settled~! All we have to do is pretend that we’re lovers. Hand holding, kissing-”

“No kissing.” Nanami gnashes his teeth. “I only tolerated it once because I was caught off guard, but if you ever kiss me again-”

Kissing, when the situation calls for it. Be warned though, if you fall for me, I’m going to have to tell you now, that this is strictly professional business.” Gojo chuckles, there’s a rustling between them, and Nanami identifies the noise as Gojo proceeds to close the distance by wrapping an arm above his torso.

“They’re asleep, you don’t have to do this right now.” Nanami deadpans, “And fine. I’ll allow kissing when the situation calls for it. But anything other than that, I’m going to put a restraining order on you.”

A giggle disturbs him from his stupor, Gojo laughs at the yellow strands that were pricking his neck, “So scary. And I’m doing this for warmth, don’t get me wrong. Plus, when they wake up, we have to be convincing!”

For the umpteenth time that day, Nanami lets out another sigh, surprisingly, he didn’t know he had been holding it. “Has anyone told you, you talk too much?”

“All the time, Nanamin.”

Nanamin? That was new.

“So we have about..” Gojo wolfs down a macaroon that Nanami had bought for him. At the moment it had been three days since they had the sleepover, now both of them were in a small coffee shop near the campus, “-two months until the spring dance. We have to show them we’re madly in love with each other~”

Two months? That was about seven weeks give or take. More than enough for them to show how much they love each other. Nanami scrunches his nose in disgust, he hands Gojo a table napkin. “How do you even manage to eat seven of those? One tastes like a bundle of sugar altogether.”

“You underestimate my power Nanami!”

“Stop quoting Star Wars and lower your voice we’re in public.”

Gojo clicks his tongue, just to spite Nanami he eats another macaroon. “You’re so boring~ How’d you know that was Star Wars anyways?”

Nanami shook his head, maybe it was for the best that he started ignoring Gojo. He brought the drink he ordered to his lips, letting the warm tea wash down the sugary confection. “You’re not the only one cursed with knowledge.”

The taller male almost spat out his food, he looked at Nanami in bewilderment, he laughed loudly, alerting the customers who were seated nearby.

“You really had to quote Thanos? I didn’t know you were into these movies.”

The danish blond sends Gojo a hint of a smile,

Gojo stilled in his seat, stopping to think. This was the first smile Nanami had ever given him.

And it was absolutely breathtaking.

“I don’t, but Yu’s really fond of them. We watch them back-to-back, to the point where I know some of the lines by heart.”

Oh right, they were here for a purpose. Not to admire Nanami’s beautiful smile or actually want to spend time with him. With his shoulders squaring, Gojo waved his hand dismissively, “We should watch movies together though, I wanna know your opinion on things~ Plus you’re surprisingly fun to talk to, Nanamin.”

“Are you asking me out on a date?” Nanami mumbles, confusion imminent on his features.

“A fake date! Think of it as spending more time with each other,” Gojo waggled his eyebrows from across the table.

“Whatever. Are you sure Geto-san frequents this place? He’s not here.”

“Don’t get your tits in such a twist, he’ll be here.”

Nanami rolled his eyes at the colorful vocabulary, he opened his mouth to make a remark but his eyes darted to the door as soon as Suguru showed up. “He’s here, what do we-”

The next words don’t roll out of his mouth as Gojo tugs on his collar, their lips smashed together so rapidly that Nanami opens up by accident, allowing the other’s tongue to roam free and lick the roof of his mouth. He couldn’t help but moan softly, his knees buckling at the sudden action.

Suguru seemed to notice them as he raised his hand midway, but averted his gaze due to the inappropriate scene they were causing.

When they separate, Nanami is beet red, his eyes are hazy and his hands clammy. I’m going to kill him.

Gojo preens him with an innocent smile. “Convincing enough? I think Suguru enjoyed the show, eh?”

“Or you made him uncomfortable. Please do not ever do that again without my permission, Gojo-san.”

“So when can I allot a spot for next time?”

Those words caused a blush to sprawl all the way to the tip of Nanami’s ears. He gritted his teeth, “Remember what we’re here for, Gojo.”

“I know, can’t we have a little fun at least? If we’re doing this fake dating thing, it has to be fun.”

“I’m not doing this for you.”

Gojo’s sharp intake of breath was as loud as a pin dropping in an empty room.

“We’ve established that in our terms and conditions, no need to remind me.”

Nanami scoffs, “Good. Just making sure.”

It isn’t until the end of the week where Gojo contacts Nanami again outside of his dorm room, this time he has three tickets in hand, a large popcorn tub secured in the other. “Us four. Movie theater, right now.”

Yu whoops a cheer and dashes to his room to get something warm to wear. Nanami’s lips twitch in annoyance, he walks away reluctantly to get a jacket.

When they’re outside of the dorm, Gojo with his long slender fingers, interlaces their hands together. “I figured it’d be cold in the theaters, this might warm you up.” He swings their arms childishly.

Haibara laughs, “You guys are so cute! I’ve never seen Kento this happy before.”

“That’s not true.” Nanami interjects, he’s not happy. Whatever Gojo was doing only made his head hurt more than it should. “Where’s Geto-san?”

“He’s already at the theaters.” Gojo offers Yu the tub of popcorn, which he happily accepts. Nanami preferred to focus on the road. But Gojo notes the dexterity of Nanami’s palm, the way the blond’s hand engulfs his very own, as it was twice larger than his. Nanami’s hand wasn’t cold, oddly enough it was warm even without gloves.

To test the waters, Gojo squeezes it for a short length of time; Nanami squeezes back. Though, this leaves an abashed Nanami ducking his head deeper into his hoodie.

“You okay, Nanami?” Haibara, the ever thoughtful friend, eyes the blond with innocent dough orbs.

Nanami nods, he lets go of Gojo’s hands to flick the shortest male on his forehead, “I’m fine.”

Had Gojo remained silent all the way to the theater, no one dared to mention it.

At the entrance, Suguru was waiting for them. He slung his arm around Gojo when they all approached closer, “You guys took long.”  Perhaps it was because of Gojo’s insistent pit stops, or the fact that he stopped to look at sugary snacks that caught his peripheral vision. He bought all kinds of things to bring inside the cinema.

By the time all four of them walked in, everything was dark and the advertisements rolled on the big screen. It was hard to see where they were going, but eventually they found their row number.

Haibara went in first to get seated, but just as Gojo wanted Nanami to hurry up and take the spot, Geto sat by the short energetic male, laughing quietly at an inside joke they shared. Then it was Nanami who slipped in, leaving Gojo to sit on the end of the aisle.

Huffy at the positions they were in, Gojo slouched in his seat. He wanted to sit next to Suguru. In lieu of that happening, he and Nanami were seated together. They were supposed to stop Haibara and Suguru from progressing. But every time he and Nanami tried to, it always ended up bringing them closer somehow.

“This sucks.” Gojo says, unaware he had voiced that out loud.

Just as he moved to place his hand on the arm rest, his palm brushed on Nanami’s knuckles, idly he thought how cold his hands were now that they were inside the cinema.

Nanami, unflinching at the skinship, tilted his head in curiosity. “Are you cold?”

Gojo nods dumbly. To his surprise, the blond tugs on Gojo’s hand and puts it on his lap, efficiently shutting the senior up. “You should have brought something warmer, Gojo.”

“Satoru.”

“What?” Nanami’s breath ghosts over, tingling the lobe of his ear. “Call me Satoru, if we’re doing this then you should call me something else.”

“Is Gojo unsatisfactory for you?” The blond grumbles back, yet his hand tightens its grip on Gojo’s fingers.

A rumble forms in the senior’s chest, he bites his gums in order to stop himself from laughing, “I mean you could call me Gojoseph, Kent.”

“You’re a menace.” Nanami retorted.

As a bright light signals for the movie to start, Gojo could see the smile that Nanami had graced him then in the coffee shop. Exhilarated, he forces himself to look back at the screen. Except that he couldn’t focus on the movie. No, he found himself giving Nanami side-glances when he thinks Nanami is paying more attention to the screen rather than him.

The one time he actually does pay attention to a particular scene, Nanami sent a smile his way and quickly returned his presence to the movie.

“So what if we make out in front of their classroom, Kento?”

“Is that your idea of making them jealous? If so, please reconsider going back to the first year of college.”

“Rude! Do you have a better idea?!”

“Consider reading romance novels, it might increase your knowledge.”

“Tch. Read one for me then.”

“All right. Come here, my lap is more comfortable than the floor.”

“Wow, you’re going to make me swoon~!”

“I’m glad that one of us at least knows how to.”

“How did your attraction for Geto-senpai begin?”

“Hmm, how did you start to like Haibara?”

“Don’t deflect my question with another question, Satoru.”

“Ugh, fine.. I don’t remember honestly. I think it’s because we’ve always been inseparable. But now..”

“I see.”

“That’s all you're going to say?”

“Am I supposed to say something more?”

“Nope.”

“Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find a way to his heart.”

“Let’s have a quiz about how well you know Gojo Satoru!”

“I don’t really feel like answering your quiz.”

“Okay, number one! What is Gojo Satoru’s favorite pastime?”

“Apparently bothering his junior.”

“Not just any junior! I’ll give you a half point though.”

“How considerate of you.”

“I know right~! Anyways, who is Gojo Satoru’s favorite person in the world?”

“Suguru Geto.”

“Hmm half point again.”

“What?”

“He’s not always on my mind y’know?”

“Oh.”

“Satoru, what are you doing in my bed?”

“Sorry, I fell asleep waiting for you.”

“We didn’t agree to meet today.. Why are you-”

“Mmm.. your bed feels cold without you.”

“You’re not supposed to be in my bed. And why are you here?”

“I wanted to discuss a new plan to get them jealous!”

“How long have you been in here?”

“Oh my classes ended about four hours ago, I guess.. Around that time?”

“Let’s eat dinner first, we’ll talk about it tomorrow. Go to your own room afterwards.”

“Can’t I just stay?”

“I’ll think about it.”

“Kento,”

“Yes?”

“..Never mind.”

“Are you all right? You’re quiet today.”

“Can we talk about something else. Not relating to Haibara or Suguru.”

“What do you want to talk about?”

“We never did get along at first,”

“And we do now?”

“Well, I’m the only one allowed to hold your hand like this, right?”

“That’s because we’re practicing on how to look natural.”

“You like me.”

“I suppose.”

“Heh.”

“Stop calling me Kent.”

“But I like it!”

“I don’t.”

“You can always call me Gojoseph~”

“How about Toru?”

“Toru?”

“Never mind.”

“No, no, I like it.”

“Then, I’ll call you Toru as a pet name, whenever we’re around them of course.”

“Then can I call you mine?”

“Get out.”

“WAIT, OI DON’T PUSH ME TO THE DOOR!”

A full month quickly passed through and before they knew it, there were party streamers and balloons decorating the auditorium. Only 2 weeks more remained, yet nothing has worked. Nanami was beginning to think that anything they did was all for naught.

Haibara and Nanami were currently painting the walls red for the event, since the spring dance aligned with the school’s summer festival, there were a lot of stalls nearby. Mostly runned by the seniors.

“I’m going to do it.” Yu suddenly exclaims with excitement in his voice.

Nanami fears what those words meant, but he already has a gist of what his best friend was going to say next. He combs a hand through his hair, trying to act cool about the situation. “Do what?”

“Ask Suguru to the dance!”

At first, Nanami thought he was going to feel his heart crack again. He had seen those words from a mile away, and even thought that it would hurt as bad as it did the last time. Strangely enough, the blond was happy for Yu.

He thought he’d be battling an inner turmoil, to feel jealousy bubble in the pits of his stomach.  Yet a smile grew in the corners of his mouth, he stepped closer to put a hand on Haibara’s shoulder, “I think he’ll be delighted to hear that coming from you.”

Haibara rubbed his neck shyly, “You think so?”

“Perhaps. My opinion stands, who would reject a puppy?”

“I’m not a puppy!” Haibara jabs him on the side, and for once Nanami lets out a full blown laughter.

He’s not in love with Haibara.

Blue eyes flash into mind instead. He pauses.

Shit that only meant..

He somehow developed feelings for Gojo Satoru.

“Oi, oi, Kento!”

Shit , Nanami thinks as he tries to walk faster. Of course, a hand grabs his elbow before he could walk any further from the man. He musters a glare and turns around to see the worried face Gojo gave him. His glare quickly drops, and he swallows a lump down his throat.

“What?” He manages to grit out.

“You’ve been ignoring my texts for days. And me frankly, but is there something wrong?” Gojo’s hand glides its way to his shoulder, and then to his cheek. It’s a tender gesture, one that could be mistaken for actual love and affection. Aside from the fact that this was all an act, Nanami almost thought it was real.

“Nothing’s wrong.” Nanami lies through his teeth, it feels wrong but he doesn’t want to admit that he has fallen for his senior. Despite the warnings not to.

Despite Gojo’s own warning.

“You’re such a bad liar, c’mon tell me.” Gojo pulls his cheek, and laughs at the way Nanami avoids eye contact.

“I don’t want to do this anymore.” The words jumble out of his mouth like a broken mixtape, it’s clear yet distorted at the same time. Nanami steps out of Gojo’s space, clutching the strap of his sling bag tighter.

Gojo remains silent, behind his tinted lens is an unreadable gaze. “Do what anymore, Nanami?”

So he’s reverted to using Nanami again.

“I’m not going to spell it out for your convenience, Gojo-senpai.”

Laughter flutters out of Gojo’s lips, “Is there any reason why you’ve decided to quit then?”

Nanami froze on the spot. A reason? The only reason his brain could supply was the unspoken words he refused to say: “I like you.”

He shook his head and turned around. “Good bye, Satoru.”

On the night of the dance, Nanami didn’t go. He stayed inside and fulfilled his assignments in a timely manner. By ten in the evening, he closed his notebook and peered over the kitchen.  The trash was due for collection, it seemed like.

Taking the plastic out of the bin, Nanami opened the door and was about to head for the trash chute, if not for a familiar spec of white hair sitting down beside the door.

He nudges Satoru with a kick, not too hard but just enough to jolt him.

“Ow!”

“Drama queen.”

Gojo shoots him a glare, “Am not.”

“What are you doing here?” Nanami crouches down so their eyes could more or less be leveled.

“I don’t have a partner for the dance.”

This took Nanami in genuine surprise. He was not blind, Gojo Satoru was handsome, exotic even, to the point that he was one of the most desired upperclassmen in the entire school.

“Surely there were offers.” Nanami manages to blurt out, because again, he was in sheer shock that Gojo, out of all people, would miss the spring dance. The male was very excited about it, even months before the festival.

“But they weren’t you.” Gojo says weakly, and before Nanami could question, the senior continues.

“They weren’t you and I kept thinking, had I met you first instead of Haibara, maybe.. You would have fallen in love with me. And I know you’re probably laughing in your head, or ready to say your apologies like you always do because you’re so fucking nice to me and-”

“Has anyone told you, you talk too much?”

“All the time Kento.  Wait I’m not d-”

Seeing as the only way to shut Gojo up was with a kiss, Nanami did just that. He tugged on the man’s uniform, slotting their lips against each other. Like the first time, all those weeks ago in Suguru’s dorm, he could taste the cherry lip gloss on his own. It was sweet, and while Nanami was never good with sweets in the first place, maybe, just maybe, he could handle someone as sweet as Gojo Satoru.

“Wha-huh?” Gojo fumbles, clearly confused with the situation at hand. Nanami sighs, “I’m going to throw the trash first. I’ll get back to you.”

An hour and half later as they stood in the kitchen, washing Nanami’s plates and cleaning off the table, Gojo walked towards the living room to turn on the radio.

He holds his hand out to Nanami, who had just finished putting away the plates, and smiles widely. Nanami quirks a brow, pushing the hand away, only for Gojo to bring it up again.

“What is it now?” Nanami grunts.

“Well, we never really got to attend the dance. So, an improv.” Gojo grabs his hand and drags him all the way to the living room. There, he pushed away Nanami’s desk, and placed his hand on the blond’s hip, the other hand pressed on his shoulder.

“I’m not very good at dancing.” Nanami admits bashfully, cursing Gojo for the small height difference between them.

“Then sway with me until the music stops.”

“Okay, Toru.”
