Chapter Text
Josuke waved to koichi. “See ya man!” He called out, walking into class. However to his surprise, the usual crowd of infatuated school girls that met him at the beginning of every class was gathered in a circle and didn’t even look Josuke’s way for a few minutes. He wondered what could have them that busy, maybe some new gossip was spreading?
Josuke walked past them, only to hear seven or so high pitched giggles and squeals as they greeted him finally. He smiled politely at them and went to sit in the back, then realised what they were all talking about.
On the opposite end of the classroom, staring out of the window with his head leaning on his fist and his leg restlessly moving, was a boy he’d never seen before. The boy had a modded uniform like josuke’s own, except his had a large dollar sign seemingly hand stitched on the front and ‘BILLION’ stitched into his left arm’s sleeve, as well as a Yen and Dollar sign on his collar. His hair was styled in a small pompadour not too dissimilar to his own, with shorter, silver bleached sides. His face though... It wore something that looked lost, or deep in thought. He had two twin scars across his face, which resembled an X that met up at his nose. His eyes were a chocolate brown, with quite small pupils. Josuke had never seen a face like his, it seemed...perhaps scary? It definitely had definitive features, but it wasn’t ugly in the slightest. He then found he couldn’t help but wonder what the boy was thinking.
Josuke was slightly taken aback at first. The kid looked tough, loud too. He looked like the kind of guy to disrupt the lesson with rude comments or throwing pens across the class room. But he interested Josuke.
———
Okuyasu had been sat staring out of the window for a few minutes now, bouncing his leg in boredom. He’d arrived before anyone else just to avoid the routine of ‘Who are you?’ ‘why haven’t i seen you around?’ he’d experienced in previous lessons that day. Though, it hadn’t mattered much since even now, no one had approached him or tried to talk to him at all. He didn’t mind, he didn’t want the attention anyway.
The Girls kept glancing over at him, he could feel it. He refused to look back though and just kept staring out of the window. He wasn’t thinking about anything extraordinary, just what Game he would play when he got back home. Though, he supposed Keicho would probably make him move shit around the house and help with fixing the roof again.
———
Josuke watched as the boy got up from his seat as instructed and made his way nonchalantly to the front of the class.
“This is our new transfer student, Okuyasu Nijimura. I trust you all to be polite, Why don’t you tell us something about yourself?”
‘Nijimura... Okuyasu Nijimura. Huh, cool.’ Josuke thought.
Then Okuyasu spoke, “Yo. My brother and i just moved here.” his voice was rather raspy and coarse. The whole time he was talking, he seemed to be looking right at Josuke, or at least in his direction. Then he looked away and then sat back down, seemingly embarrassed to be pulled up in the middle of class.
Josuke smiled slightly, watching as Okuyasu settled back into his seat, tapping his pen against his hand and looking down as class continued.
———
UGH. Okuyasu couldn’t believe he’d been called up like that, it was so fuckin’ embarrassing. Plus, the whole time he was stood up, he couldn’t take his eyes of the boy in the back row. He felt a small blush creep onto his face as he thought about it now. The boy was the most beautiful person he’d ever seen. He looked like a damn model! His hair was a large pompadour, styled to perfection. His lips were plump and glistened in the light. His eyes...oh, his eyes.. They were wide and doe-like with iris’ a pretty purple shade and long, dark eyelashes. His face made Okuyasu want to cry from the sheer longing of wanting to touch it.
Class had ended and he was trying to just leave for lunch break, but he suddenly found himself surrounded by his classmates. They were all talking at once and Okuyasu couldn’t distinguish a single voice, except one that came from the back, it was confident and joyful as it asked people to move out of the way. Then, all of a sudden, the pretty boy from before was in front of him. Everyone else went silent as the boy opened his mouth.
“Hey! Nijimura, right? I’m Higashikata!” He said with a smile. Okuyasu stared up and him and felt himself immediately blush, he couldn’t handle it right now, class had overwhelmed him enough and he would mess up if he tried to talk to the boy now.
Okuyasu grabbed his bag and stood up, “I gotta go.” He said quietly, pushing past everyone and accidentally locking eyes with the boy for a moment, which only worsened his blush as he quickly turned and stared at his feet as he walked out.
———
Josuke watched Okuyasu leave, he frowned slightly. Had he done something wrong? All he did was introduce himself... Whispers started up as everyone was shocked by Okuyasu’s behaviour. A few girls even trying to tell Josuke how rude he was.
“I swear, i’ll never talk to him after he did that!” One girl said, leaning towards josuke.
“Nah, I’m sure he’s just busy.” Josuke shrugged. He walked past everyone else again, leaving the classroom a few minutes later to go find somewhere to eat.
Koichi would be sitting with Yukako today, so Josuke would have to go to the roof again. He didn’t mind, It’d been that way since Koichi and Yukako began dating last year and he’d become accustom to it now. Maybe Josuke should get a girlfriend like Koichi had? Then he wouldn’t have to spend some lunches alone... Josuke shook his head and laughed slightly at the idea. Nah, he didn’t need a girl. He didn’t want a meaningless relationship anyway, then he made his way up to the roof.
———
Shit, Fuck, Shit. Okuyasu must have looked like such an asshole back there, he couldn’t believe he’d just done that. He groaned and leaned back against the wall. He’d found his way to the roof with ease, picking the lock easily too. He didn’t feel like eating with anyone else, he didn’t want to talk to anyone anyways.
The cool spring air brushed across his face as he sighed and opened his lunchbox. Okuyasu began to eat, far too engrossed in his meal to realise the roof door had opened and someone was walking out.
Midway through eating, he groaned, still unable to move past his rudeness in the previous lesson. Jesus Christ, he hated when his emotions got the best of him like that, he just felt like he’d had to get away. He never meant to come off like that.
“Fuck, i messed up...Higashikata’s never gonna wanna talk to me now..ugh, stupid Okuyasu, fuck!!” He said to himself slightly too loudly.
“I dunno, he might still wanna?” Said a slightly familiar voice as someone sat down next to him.
Okuyasu looked up to see Josuke himself, and jumped slightly, almost knocking his food. “H-Higashikata- Fuck- Shit- H-hey!” He said, stuttering and stumbling over his words as he felt his face heat up.
