La gobernanza tripartita de Buenos Aires bajo Galatea D'Negro (conocida como la Reina Carmesí o la Roja); acompañada por su padre oscuro, Daniel Molloy, el ancestro Armand, y junto a los vampiros locales desde El Conventillo, suscitó una voz de alerta cuando empezó a funcionar.
Las acciones de la mujer, entre guerrillas internas y fusión forzada de facciones, mostraron la posibilidad de una nueva organización de los amelianos en Sudamérica; una política de la noche en un estilo joven, revolucionario y hasta democrático, lejos de las pretensiones europeas monárquicas. De este modo, fueron llegando variados Eternos para ver quién era "la sombra rubí" de Molloy: su propia línea de sangre de los Druidas, parte de la línea de Lestat... y hasta la Talamasca.
En su sexto año de gobierno aparece una petición muy particular: un grupo llega desde Bolivia, acompañados por Guy Anatole; abogado, psíquico y ex agente de la Talamasca, para pedirle hasta lo que ese momento parecía imposible sin un "sistema" más grande: rescatar a Jasper de la Motherhouse de Amsterdam, en donde estaba desde hacía años.
Las consecuencias de ese rescate cambiarán el juego del tablero en el mundo sobrenatural.
