Quan Yizhen always had difficulties with taking care of himself, and his hair was one of the main causes for that to be the case. Through the years, his relationship with those curly, unruly locks turned from difficult to almost impossible. He still did his best to keep it in good shape, but depression, grief (...and fire) made it impossible for him to be successful.
Yin Yu still reassures him, though.or
Hair is really important in the daoist system of beliefs. It brings lots of complicated feelings for Quan Yizhen, while still meaning a lot for him.

Grief, in Quan Yizhen's opinion, was not something you should carry alone. When he married Yin Yu, they made a vow of helping each other carry any of their burdens, right? The room spun.
He was no longer shivering, no longer cold at all. No, he was burning. His body prickled with pain, and as he looked down at his fingertips, he faltered, his body curling in on himself.
Across the table, something cracked against marble before hitting the floor, and Pei Ming shouted, “General Qi Ying!”
The last thing Yin Yu saw before he lost consciousness was Quan Yizhen being turned onto his back, his face flopping to the side, eyes rolled up in the back of his head, revealing the large oozing gash on his forehead.
After being struck with an unknown curse, Yin Yu must put aside any lingering complicated feelings and work with Quan Yizhen to survive what has been done to them.

And of course, he ends up thinking about Quan Yizhen. Yin Yu is thus confronted with the horrifying ordeal of being known, being seen, and talking about himself.
And, well, after more than a century of running away, maybe it’s finally time to start walking back home, even if that road is thorny and full of painful memories he had spent a whole lifetime trying to forget.

Quan Yizhen was already rushing towards Yin Yu with his fist raised.
“You can’t be me, I’m me!” he punched at Yin Yu, but Yin Yu easily outmaneuvered him.
“Yizhen!” Yin Yu tried to explain, but Quan Yizhen, even in Yin Yu’s body, was quick. He tried to rush Yin Yu again, only for Yin Yu to block his attack with a single move. “Will you quit! It’s me!”
“I’m me!” Quan Yizhen said again with another lunge.
Yin Yu was getting tired of this, so he hooked his heel around Quan Yizhen’s and tripped him backwards, then he swung a leg over him and used his knees to press Quan Yizhen’s shoulders into the ground.
Yin Yu and Quan Yizhen switch bodies.
