Even in the wake of their bitter confrontation at the end of The Adventure Where Everyone Gets Guns, Pomni has refused to give up on Jax. He hasn't made it easy, however, consistently dodging her attempts at reconciliation and companionship with an expression of haunted dread. So when she sees another opportunity to get through to him during an unexpected evening meetup she takes it, despite her dwindling hope as he seems determined to barrel towards a lonely abstraction.
