Summary
He spun once, twice - it should have been ridiculous. Yet it was only natural, only an extension of the song that loved him. All the air in the room was caught up in the loose braid that had slipped from his plait, snared in the triumphant glitter of his gaze.
Borne up by the torchlight, Fingon flung back his head and laughed like a swooping eagle.

"But it is my burden. At least to hear, and to try. To loathe them, if I must." Finally, she turned back to him with a faint gesture to the stone. "You, brother of my husband, do not shield me from it. What have you to tell me? Will you not speak?

Summary
"So we come to this." Somehow, his voice is almost rueful, as if mass slaughter is more an embarrassment than anything else. Sauron makes no move to lower himself, and Celebrimbor will not crane to meet his eyes.
After the sack of Ost-In-Edhil, Celebrimbor and Sauron have words.

Summary
“My deepest apologies,” said the Elf to Mairon, his eyes flitting briefly to the guards as he spoke. “You should not have been left out to drown in this rain. It seems the reputation of our city's hospitality has failed you on this day.”
Mairon stood a little straighter and plastered on a placid smile. "It is no great burden," he lied. "I have never minded the rain."
The Elf’s frown tilted up at the corners. “You have my apologies nonetheless.”
***
Mairon arrives in Eregion and finds that its lord is not quite what he expected.

Summary
Word of Morgoth’s latest endeavour reaches High King Fingolfin's court in Hithlum, and Fingon the Valiant eagerly rides to Ard-galen to investigate. Of course there is a one-handed, red-haired ulterior motive …
Thankfully his aunt Lalwen, the High King’s sister, comes along to keep things in check.
Many thanks to Grundy for her excellent and scientifically accurate beta!

Summary
"Maedhros sought destruction body and spirit, and found both. When Mandos summoned him, he refused, and first of them all he has been taken by the void that they swore themselves to. He is not in the world, and will not come again. Deeper darknesses are there than that which Morgoth made below Thangorodrim!” Fingon paused and looked at Finrod. “Should I not then have killed him as he asked me?”
“No!” said Finrod, but Turgon said nothing.
Sam grew even more upset. “Now that’s not right,” he said, “that can’t be right! Just or not – and I don’t know that it is, begging your pardon, sir – still, no story should end that way!”

I finished this and then had to go and stare at a wall for a while. The family dynamics here are painful and perfect
