Holy fuck the fact that this was made before we saw any proper characterisation and it's still beautifully written is beyond me. The idea that Bones is capable of love but people (Benny specifically) don't believe he is, is SO SO sad to me. Because honestly I get both sides. Like I don't think Benny doesn't want to love Bones (in this au anyways) I think he's literally just got commitment issues. The characterisation is a bit off because it's obvious Benny can commit (i.e. his rls with Eddie), but lowkey you can easily view this as the past where he wasn't able to fully resolve those issues, maybe even until he'd met Eddie (though I doubt that because he doesn't seem to be afraid of being attached to Eddie at all within the game).
