“...You think we’ll forget this?”
Oikawa followed Hinata’s gaze toward the balcony. “Forget what?”
Hinata’s hand lifted, wrist loose, fingers making a vague little circle in the air. “This.”
The shapeless word hung there. He didn’t really point at anything in particular. “This” might mean the cramped living room with its sticky floor and off-key echoes of karaoke, or the group of friends on the balcony, or the city beyond them, or even the thin air stretched tight between his shoulder and Oikawa’s.
Oikawa didn’t answer right away. His gaze slipped past Hinata’s hand and out through the crack in the sliding door to where the balcony rail cut the night into a neat rectangle. He rolled his wrist, swooshing his drink in slow, idle circles. The liquid climbed the sides of the cup and slid back down, catching light from the TV in quick, fractured glints. He watched it instead of looking at Hinata, searching for something to say.
“You know what I’ll miss?” Oikawa spoke.
“What?”

“Where...have you come from?” Ushijima manages.
“Paris.”
It’s not the answer he expects. Though, somehow Paris seems to fit his expectations of the man standing in front of him. “Mm. That is very — ”
“ — Exciting? Glamorous?” the redhead prompts, obviously proud of his globetrotting accomplishment.
“ — Far.”
The man falters for the first time, like he finds Ushijima’s answer odd — despite being even odder himself — and laughs, infectious and hearty, like Ushijima has made some sort of joke.
One fateful day, a colorful, painfully extroverted young man named Tendou Satori moves into the unit above Ushijima's apartment. He's odd, presumptuous, and — most egregious of all — he's shockingly noisy. And the quiet, scheduled routine Ushijima Wakatoshi lives is forever altered.
