Summary
Natalie stands before Lottie, she zeros her eyes on her hair. Watching as a little ladybug traverses Natalie’s hair just clinging to the edge of what remains blonde before fading into her brown hair. She watches transfixed for a second, enjoying this view with Natalie before her in the field. Natalie, a city girl with a hard life standing in a flower field with a ladybug in her hair and the fading sunlight gracing her face.
She steps forward cautiously not wanting to startle Natalie who is lost in thought. Carefully she reaches her hand out and extends her finger to block the ladybug’s path. Just as her finger caresses Natalie’s hair, Natalie shifts her gaze and takes Lottie in. Takes how close she is standing, looks at the finger poking at her hair. Lottie freezes.
Her cheeks flush a deep red as Natalie casts her a stern look, “can I help you?”
Lottie feels a tickle on her finger and slowly pulls her hand back. She shows Natalie the ladybug marching down her finger to her knuckle. “Ladybug.”
Natalie brings her hand to her hair where the ladybug was just residing and drags her fingers through. Natalie’s own cheeks tint and she looks away. “Thanks, Lot.”
