    “House, you okay?”

Of course he’s okay, he’s not the one dying, and as a matter of fact, right now, neither is Wilson. Wilson just has a stupid cold and decides to make it everyone else’s problem by having a coughing fit in the middle of the night and making House think he’s actively, acutely dying.

“House,” Wilson says, right next to his ear now. House startles – he hadn’t even heard him get out of bed. “House, listen to me. I think you’re having a panic attack. You need to breathe slowly and steadily.”

That’s ridiculous, House wants to say, but he can’t, because he’s suddenly very aware of how he can barely get enough air to breathe, let alone speak.

Wilson's fight with cancer affects House more than he cares to admit.

    Summary

“We go back to Princeton, then” House suggests. “You’ll be among friends. They’ll look after you until I get out.”
    [...]
“Okay,” he hears himself say before he even consciously makes the decision. “Okay. We’ll go back to Princeton. I’ll get treatment there.”

Wilson changes his mind about treatment. House goes back to prison. It all works out fine, in the end.

    Summary

He’s angry, at first. Angry at House for hurting Cuddy so badly that she hasn’t returned to the hospital since the incident. For breaking his wrist, which still hurts like a bitch every time he moves his arm wrong, and aches even when at rest. For torching not only his career but his personal life too.

For leaving Wilson behind and all alone.

    [...]

Over time, the anger fades, leaving a deep, bleeding, House-shaped wound in its wake. He’s no longer angry at the bastard, he just misses him. And isn’t that pathetic?

After the assault on Cuddy's house, Wilson spirals.

    Summary

“What if I adopted a cat?” Wilson asks over dinner in front of the TV one evening.

House stares at him. "Then I’d assume you’ve officially come to terms with the fact that you’ll remain single forever. We’ve been over this before. Are you going senile? Shame, but I guess you are getting old.”

Wilson rolls his eyes so dramatically that it’s almost impressive. “Would you mind if I adopted a cat?”

“What’re you asking me for? It’s your place,” House points out.

    “What if it weren’t?”

    “What if it weren’t what?

    “My place.”

“I knew it. You are going senile. Just to be clear, I’m not going to wipe your butt for you if you forget how to do that. I’m a doctor, not a nurse.”

“House. What if it were our place instead?”

Wilson gets a new cat. He also asks House to move back in with him. Permanently, this time.

    Summary

The pale thing of evil incarnate. Every move he makes breathes venom, confidence and a power unprecedented to any old human. He’s evil, he’s death’s most trusted assistant. Sparing people is not exactly his favourite thing either, but somehow, that man in the house on the hill's heart continues to hammer away behind those delicate ribs.

    Why?

The man is cold, callous, and isolated. In a house akin to a mental prison he stays, far away from anyone else. When the sun begins to fry skin at the slightest contact, the hermit wants nothing more than to turn away from the discomfort outside. That, however, does not seem possible. When the thing he holds most dear can cause a death he can't help but fear, the door opens; only to those he trusts, no doubt. This decision becomes his greatest, especially when the pale thing arrives.
