Quite a lovely story, and the last part is so tender and sad, it brought tears to my eyes
"Elizabeth smiled but could not stop the tears filling her eyes. She leaned down and helped Darcy put his arms around her. He tightened them, and she felt an intense comfort. All will be well. He is here. He is protecting me. What can come between us? She blinked her eyes quickly, but that simply helped the tears stream faster. I cannot live without this. She burrowed deeper into his arms, pressing her face to his broad chest.
Fifty-four years just has not felt like enough. We need fifty more. One hundred more. A millennium. It would never be enough.
Darcy’s arms tightened around her, no doubt responding to her tears soaking through his shirt. But as she rested against her husband’s chest, she felt the strength that still defined him.
Perhaps the doctor is wrong. What could kill my Fitzwilliam? My Love? " -
