A dying succulent rescued from the curb on garbage day, its leaves already browning? Why not. A 1.5-billion-dollar hockey franchise with a fanbase that was still waiting for their first Cup? Obviously.
    One thing a nineteen-year-old should never, under any circumstances, be trusted with is the care of a slightly loopy twenty-year-old who has just been given Tramadol for a Grade II AC shoulder sprain.

    I really love the parallel between how Mack and Ryan express their feelings here. Mack's love is just so incredibly healthy—no matter how much he's spiraling internally, he always makes sure to respect and protect Will at all costs. Ryan loves Will just as fiercely, but it ends up completely warped by his deep-rooted insecurities, his toxic competitiveness, and his absolutely garbage communication skills.
