What a strange girl, Beatrice thinks, but it’s not her first thought.
She remembers what the girl looked like trying to get into the building–the sunlight hitting her hair and creating a glow around her head like a halo. Her smile when Beatrice had let her in as if they were friends that hadn’t seen each other in a while. The way her eyebrows rose and scrunched together and made her look like a golden retriever personified.
The girl was indeed, very attractive. But as she does with any pretty girl that smiles at her, Beatrice immediately squashes the thought and stamps out the burn in her chest. Shakes her head to reduce the sudden heat on her face. And goes on about her day.
