And then he woke up, splayed in a field, draped in the tatters of Jayce’s blanket. A groan rose from his left, then some pitiful shuffling before a final, loud thump, accompanied by a slight warble.

Jayce’s hand finds his shoulder, a jolt of electricity. It’s as if touch is transformed to an echo, bouncing off the kaleidoscope galaxies of Viktor’s body. They sing out for his partner. It feels so terribly selfish, for it should not be his right. His eyes grow big, reflecting Jayce in beautiful gold.
From his wrist, digging through the nebulous flesh, that which bound them is placed in Viktor’s palm. Their string of fate made manifest.
