Harry and Zayn exchange a look. Zayn’s eyes twinkle, and he grins, mischievously. “I think we like to keep our secrets - oh, don’t give me that look.” Louis looks like he wants to throw something at them. Zayn laughs. “Yes, yes. We’re together.”
“Proper serious too,” Harry supplies, nodding sagely. Zayn barks out a laugh. “Wedding bells and all.”
“Sorry you boys weren’t invited,” Zayn says, with a smirk. “We wanted to keep it small, you know.”
Louis shakes his head, with amusement. “I’ll have you know that you might be joking now, but nobody will be surprised if this actually ends up happening.”
(The year is 2021 and Zayn and Harry finally see each other after six long years, and everything is different. Zayn has a child, Harry doesn't know what his status with the other former members of One Direction is, and neither of them know what's missing from their lives. For Liam, it was a Friday night, after weeks of silence. It was in a home he had bought. In the bed, he shared with his husband. The same bed where he found Zayn sleeping peacefully and naked next to Harry Styles, one of his friends.

It was eleven at night and Harry was by himself in his other house in LA, the more enclosed one he bought after Four released when the idea of them no longer being them became much more evident. He was sat on his ugly-but-in-an-artsy-way couch, scrolling through his feed as the television played in the background. He was not really paying attention if he’s being honest, because if there is something Harry does best, it’s zoning out the loud bits. Maybe that was always his problem.
But it’s different this time, because it felt like a catch of lightning in his bones when he heard the name, when he always hears the name.

Summary
Something in Zayn's heart breaks a little for this family of two he’s found by chance, because Harry’s voice is delicate and quiet in a way Zayn’s sure nobody else gets to hear, it’s the same voice Louis has for his kid when no one else is listening, and it’s beautiful and heart-breaking and a thousand other things Zayn can’t even begin to name.

There are very few things Harry cares about these days. One, of course, is Lizzie, his daughter.
When Zayn stumbles upon them, Harry thinks he will just be another person who will think Lizzie is too much, or not enough.
