“You will never be what Jere is to me.” Belly sounded angrier than he’d heard her in a long time—maybe ever. He knew, immediately and innately, that he deserved it. “You and I… you and I were never anything.”
His ears haven’t stopped ringing since.
(It's 3am, and Belly and Conrad are both still thinking about everything that just happened on the beach.)
