She walked back to the other girl with slow steps, not being careful to avoid shards of glass and metal littered across the floor. “Tomorrow I will kill a man and any softness I had before…” She breathed in. “...any ability to like…” She exhaled. “...or love…” Riri swallowed. “...that will be gone .”
Shuri and Riri prepare for battle while struggling with the growing feelings between them. Takes place between Shuri taking the heart shaped herb, and the final fight with Talokan.

Though Shuri had agreed to meet up for that Bull’s game, two years of radio silence on either side made Riri increasingly doubtful of her words by the day. Nevertheless, she forced herself back into the daily itinerary of doing her work—and others’—and toying with new invention ideas, keeping her promise of staying under the radar.
On the other hand, Shuri needed to step up to her new position as the Black Panther. Understandably, she’s a lot busier now. Riri doesn’t blame her–or she tries not to–but wishes she could see her. News articles aren't cutting it. And keeping tabs on the other doesn’t seem to work much for Shuri.

Rain pattered softly against the window as distant rumblings of thunder ran their course across the country outside. Kate barely heard it, her eyes so focused on the man standing before her.
“It was humbling, to say the least…” he said, his voice trailing off.
Something about that night, that room, and that setting, set Kate at ease. She thought perhaps it was the gentle candlelight in the library, or the man before her dressed only in trousers and shirt, his hair rough from sleep. They weren’t Miss Sharma and Lord Bridgerton here, they were Kate and Anthony.
