"Alright, ready to start?" asked the interviewer.
"I am," she responded, "and just so we're on the same page, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"
"So help you God," the interviewer quipped.
She took a deep breath. The story of her and Michael's life together was one that was long and complex. One that she wasn't sure the interviewer, or the world for that matter was ready to hear, but she knew it needed to be told nonetheless.
"Well," she began, wondering how she was going to fit three decades of history between her and her late husband into a single interview, "I met Michael in the spring of 1976, so let's start from there."
