Summary
Bruce wanted to make it clear to Tim that he had no problems whatsoever with his personal escapades. Even when it would haunt him at night when he tried to sleep and all he could see behind his pressed closed lids was Tim.
He was better than all this. He could contain himself like a proper man, like a father.
That all came to a head when he overheard Hal fucking Jordan talk to his barely legal son after a league meeting.

Damian notices the little things first.
It’s a pat on the shoulders, a hand resting on the lower back, a joke whispered so low there’s no one else there to listen except Timothy — like making him chuckle is a unique fortune on its own, and Father wants to treasure the sound of that laughter within the extent of his possibilities.
While looking at them, car parked in front of the manor, boot open as they load their luggages, for Damian comes the unexpected realisation that there’s a side of his Father he has always underestimated, or perhaps, even eluded on purpose.And the conclusions are simple: Father is clearly infatuated with Timothy.

If he said it didn't hurt, that meant that it did.
If he didn't want something, it meant that he did.
