Neil Perry does not want to go home for winter break. He does not want to deal with his parents and their judgment and their expectations that he knows he will never meet. He also does not want to leave Todd. But there is no way to get out of it, he has to go home. Right?
Or, right before winter break, Welton is hit by a snowstorm and the students get snowed in. Neil gets his chance at a good break and maybe, just maybe, a relationship with a certain roommate of his.

Summary
Todd Anderson and Neil Perry move in together after college. Neil Perry believes in ghosts. Todd Anderson does not. That is, Todd does not believe in ghosts until he begins to think that their new apartment is haunted. Thus begins Todd's adventure with the ghost in their apartment, and Neil's constant "I told you so!" However, their ghost ends up being something much, much different.

Todd Anderson sat cross-legged on his bed, flipping through the worn pages of his notebook. Moonlight filtered through the window, casting a soft glow over the room. He glanced up at Neil’s empty desk across the room, where his textbooks and notebooks lay in disarray, cluttering his desk. Opposite Neil’s desk, stood Todd’s, covered in crumpled up balls of paper he ripped out of his notebook.
The soft sounds of his classmates talking in the hallway outside his door interrupted his thoughts. He heard faint mumbles of goodnights, followed by the door opening softly.
“Hey,” Todd said softly, his voice quiet.
“Hey yourself."
