You try to do the impossible, stay quiet, stay useful, and not fall in love with a man whose fate is already written. You recognize the missions before they happen. You warn when you can. And slowly, the game begins to fracture around you, canon resists.
The closer you grow to Soap in the spaces between gunfire, the clearer it becomes. Small changes are allowed, but the world will always demand balance.
