“Oh,” Shanks says and Beckman almost takes a step back except… there’s no haki explosion. Beckman can feel a change in the air, yes, but not the violent one he’d been expecting/fearing. “Do they know who?”
Beckman nods, “and where they’ve taken him. It’ll take us three days to get there.”
“Good,” Shanks says.
“Boss…” Beckman starts, then stops because in all the ways he imagined this conversation going, Shanks somewhat remaining calm had never crossed his mind.
Shanks, shockingly, actually gives Beckman a smile. It isn’t nearly as easy-going as usual, but it’s still real.
