Summary
Despite being space-faring, in the first half of the 26th century humanity was still doing what it does best: authoritarianism, unfettered capitalism, massive inequalities, xenophobia, exploitation, and so on.
In the middle of that century, invasive space plants from the Triangulum galaxy swiftly put an end to that. They came with promises of health, equality, abundance… and domestication: taking every sentient species they meet as pets. Not in the most antispeciest manner, to say the least. The pets are tightly controlled, injected with advanced drugs, and modified in body and mind. Officially, it perfectly meets the needs of the pets.
Humans may have been one conquest too much. Not that they are special; simply, old and recent cracks in the empire start to join. More and more feel that something is brewing. It feels like heavy air before a thunderstorm.
We follow highly unconventional individuals who have at heart, in the most radical sense of the words, freedom, peace, and truth. They may start powerless, but with a deep sense of mutual aid, and sprawling—sometimes utterly bizarre—cunning intelligence, they might change things for the better. At risk of starting the storm themselves.
