While he listens, Shane realizes that he sort of wants to claw out the insides of Ilya's brain in a non-abrasive procedure until every single thought and experience that has ever passed through his mind belongs to him too. Until such a procedure is medically viable, though, he just settles for asking for more, more, more. Ilya, mercifully, gives.or, a series of sort-of vignettes of Shane and Ilya painting a nursery.

"It's got good bones," Shane said, to everyone who would listen, forestalling their totally valid concerns about depreciation and the novelty wearing off and like, subsidence. Boring stuff that Shane did not care about today because this was Ilya Rozanov's house. This was the actual house that Rozanov lived and died in, all those years ago. The man, the legend, and now – technically, if someone wanted to think of it like that, and Shane did – the roommate!

Ilya Rozanov was the star of the Russian Shatterdome before he was unceremoniously shipped off with an outdated jaeger and no copilot.
