    Summary

The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.

    A child, I realize with a start.

    That’s a child!

“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.

“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.

    Used.

The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”

    Summary

You began to dump your supplies on the ground, your worn rifle leaned against the cave wall. You unclipped your heavy belt, laden with supplies, the row of silver bullets glinting in the firelight.

You were just about to shrug the heavy white fur off your shoulders when inky, clawed hands were grabbing at the collar and tugging you close, his deceptively beautiful human face suddenly inches from yours.

“Or perhaps, maybe I’ll just eat you.” He purred as he leaned in, nuzzling at your jaw before he lightly nipped at your neck. “Mmm… I’ve missed you, pet.”

    Summary

“Hello, König.” they murmur softly, again relaxing into their metal chair, cigarette in hand. “I’m glad to see you’re alive.”

The admission was vulnerable, a tentative olive branch between the two as König came to his senses.

His eyes remained fixed on them. Unyielding gaze almost burning a hole into their skull. Emotions and thoughts were turning so quickly in his mind that they had problems naming what he was feeling before he had moved on to the next one.

“You carried me out. You should have left me.”

"Yer a fuckin' liar." Soap tells him.

"Sargeant." Ghost responds, a vague imitation of a warning for him to back down from this subject. Blood is rushing through his ears and it's like everything fades away, leaving nothing but the pounding of his heart that, if he focused on, he thinks might have sounded like a repetition of Soap; Soap; Soap.

Or, Soap is an adrenaline junkie with a streak of self-sacrificing tendencies. Ghost just wants him home safe and sound.

... And in any way he can have him.

    Summary

König crammed his muscular thigh between yours, forcing you to spread your legs for him as he pinned you against the wall, his body trapping yours in place. “Too long have I been lenient with you. It is clear to me that you need a reminder of who you belong to."

You gave him the biggest shit-eating grin you could manage. This was a dangerous game, but you’d always been a bit of a risk-taker. Go big or go home as the saying went; and with König, you always went big despite your small size. You rolled your eyes dramatically, ignoring the warning bells ringing in your mind that this was a terrible idea.

“And, tell me again…” you said, coyly feigning boredom. “Who do I belong to?”

The room was dim, bathed only by the faint luminescence of moonlight through a tiny window, but behind the black veil covering König's face, you could see the icy, unforgiving sheen in his eyes, something dark and foreboding that caused a cold shiver to slither down your spine.

    You were in trouble.
