Summary

There's no time to waste as she and the Scions chase after him and Fandaniel to avert the Final Days, but the consequences of ignoring her pain inevitably catch up with her.

Summary
Before she was the Warrior of Light, Rael was a rava viera who was taken from the Golmore Jungle as a child and raised to be an efficient soldier and weapon for the Garlean army. Twenty-three years before the start of A Realm Reborn, she and her lover and legatus, Noah van Gabranth, travel to Garlemald to attend a promotion ceremony for Rael to the rank of tribunus laticlavius of the IV imperial legion, but they have an additional request they'd like to ask of their emperor. The future happiness of the young couple hangs in the balance, but ever since she arrived, Rael cannot shake the nefarious feeling that someone is watching her. His radiance may not be so easy to please as they originally thought.
Basically just a short little fic about a period in my WoL's past before she knew Emet-Selch and who it really was that she served. A lot of her lore and backstory is centred around Dalmasca and the IVth legion, and this is one of the very few times she comes face to face with the emperor before they meet again decades later during the events of Shadowbringers.
