Summary
This is a little mood piece, set after the season finale and my short story Out of the Cuirass. I started out to write a journey home, and instead ended up with this bit of internal musing that no one asked for, from the one person no one cares about. I'm sorry. It's for me, not you. I just wondered how Airk must feel after being "rescued," and having missed out on everything.

[Airk] wasn't sure of his place here. Everyone seemed to have lost something, or someone. He supposed he had as well.

He knew not to push it. It had been too long, and there were unexplained dark places in his mind, gaps in his memory charred to ash with lust, anger, and shame. He was as much a stranger to himself as these tired adventurers were to him.Series

"I'm gonna take it off," Kit asserted, looking back towards the horizon again. Jade's smile widened, a sudden thought of the soft skin underneath causing her cheeks to flush. "When?"
"As soon as I figure out how," Kit tugged a finger at the collar of the mail shirt....
As the group started walking across the sand, Jade leaned in to murmur in Kit's ear, "I'm sure we can figure something out."
