She broke the seal and pulled out what was inside. First was an official invitation, written in fancy script on cream-colored paper with gold embossing. The usual formal stuff: “His Grace, Archduke Enver Gortash, has the honor of inviting…” then the date, time, and venue of a coronation reception. There was also a personal note, written in bold, sweeping handwriting:
My dear friend,
I hope to see you at the reception. I’m assuming you don’t have a gown suitable for such an occasion, so I took the liberty of taking care of that for you. Please accept this modest gift as a token of old friendship.

Gortash invites his old friend to the reception celebrating his coronation. Maeve’s companions are certain it’s a trap, but for her, stripped of her memories, the evening is a rare chance to glimpse her own past and discover what the Archduke of Baldur’s Gate truly wants.

К приглашению прилагалась личная записка, написанная уверенным, размашистым почерком.
«Надеюсь увидеть тебя на празднестве. Полагаю, что подходящего наряда для столь торжественного мероприятия у тебя не найдётся, поэтому я взял на себя смелость позаботиться об этом. Прими этот скромный подарок в знак старой дружбы».
Горташ приглашает старую подругу на прием в честь своей коронации. Спутники Мэйв уверены: это ловушка. Но для неё, потерявшей память, этот вечер — отличный шанс заглянуть в собственное прошлое и узнать, чего добивается новый властитель Врат Балдура.

Красивый, пекла бы его побрали: усыпанная веснушками кожа, тонкая талия, длинные темные волосы.
Астарион злился на себя, но не мог отвести взгляд. Это как смотреть на солнце, которое он не видел так долго. Он все еще не мог поверить, что способен различать всю яркость красок.
Тав оказался одним из этих полузабытых оттенков.

Bane laughed and waved a hand, gesturing at his—at Enver’s—body. “Fret not. Gortash is here, aware, unharmed. I know how fond of each other you are.”
His smiled turned into a leer, and his eyes glittered with malice as he watched for her reaction. Elegy made the slightest shrug and said, “Hmm.”
“Or perhaps he is fonder of you than you are of him,” Bane said. The thought amused him greatly.
Elegy slowly pulled off one glove and tossed it on top of her cloak, and he followed the movement with his eyes. “Can you blame him?”

Summary
The wedding reception is as grand as could be expected when one is marrying an Archduke, though that is not what occupies Tav's thoughts as festivities go on. The rest of the still-living party (save Wyll who is taking his father's place as Grand Duke) will be following Karlach to Moonrise Towers.
They would be leaving her alone with him, with this vile Enver Gortash she must now call her husband.
(It is an absence he is more than ready to take advantage of, but perhaps she is not the only one who will be changed by all this.)
