Summary
Byleth awoke to war, a world so twisted and splintered by violence that she almost can't recognize it. She's grateful for the presence of her former students and colleagues as she tries to navigate all of the changes and help lead the Kingdom's burgeoning resistance, but what she desires most of all is the reassuring presence of her dearest friend. After a heated confrontation with the Archbishop Rhea, Jeralt Eisner leaves the monastery behind with his eerily quite daughter, Byleth, in hand. He seeks out work in his homeland of Faerghus, only to be given an offer from the king himself: the chance to have consistent work and a safe place to raise his daughter.
Byleth is viewed as an oddity in Fhirdiad, extremely intelligent and talented for one her age, but rarely saying a word to anyone. She must learn to navigate her life as a commoner amongst the Faerghus nobility all while listening to the strange girl who resides within her dreams.

For one can never handle a truth such as this: in the midst of the horrific entity before her who took her will, mind and consent, Byleth must still ask, who are the real monsters?
