And maybe the universe had taken pity on her, or maybe her nails digging into the skin of Eve’s hip bone had finally been harsh enough to wake her up, whatever it had been, the second she felt Eve stirring, her legs straightening to get the blood flowing faster through her veins, subtle noises leaving past her lips, Villanelle let out a relieved breath she didn’t know she had been holding.
“Hmm … honey?” Eve turned to look at her over her shoulder. Her pupils still reflecting the sleep she had just interrupted. “What time is it?”

She stands up and throws the apple core over the side of the ship before turning back to Eve.
“You can look at anything you want, when you want to now. You’re on a pirate ship,” she adds with a gleam in her eye. Eve scoffs, picks up the second apple and bites into it. Crunch. She holds Villanelle’s gaze defiantly.
“I’ll let you know when there’s anything worth looking at,” she says drolly.
Villanelle sucks her bottom lip, smirking more before turning and walking away.

Eve closed her office door, turning around to face Villanelle. She watched her carefully, her eyes sweeping up and down the other woman’s figure. She could see Villanelle’s eyebrows twitch. Eve sighed, leaning against the door. “we weren’t really in a talking environment.”
“You never told me you were a translator.”
Villanelle chuckled, tucking her hands into her pant pockets. Eve could not help but think the action to be annoying. And hot. So, so hot.
The blonde stepped closer to her. Eve could feel her heart thrumming in her chest. “As you said Eve,” Villanelle purred, “we weren’t really in a talking environment.”
