Summary
Winter ran. Ignoring the calls to stop. Ignoring the way her muscles ached. Ignored the agony burning in her legs as she pushed them further than she'd ever done before. She ignored the wet whimpers of her sister. Ignored the cries of her newborn brother. Ignored the residual ringing in her ears. Ignored it all.
She needed to get them away. And that was all that mattered. Not mother. Nor father. Not the ear shattering bangs. Nor the way their bodies had slumped like puppets whose strings had been cut. Not the spray of red that had exploded from either of them. Nor the hollow thumps as they hit the floor. Not the pool of red that had stained their white hair. Nor the masked figures who kicked their cold bodies. Not the ever-present stench of blood stuck in her nose. Nor the images forever burned into her mind. None of it mattered.
She had to keep them safe. No matter, even if it meant giving up her own life, she'd keep them safe. Mother had asked. Mother had begged. So, she'd keep them safe. No matter the cost.

Cinder's plan succeed. Beacon fell. Ozpin was dead. And she was the Fall Maiden. But that victory cost her more than Cinder could comprehend. Left disfigured and feeling more angry and bitter than ever, a turn of events that not even the great Witch Salem could have foreseen is going to change Cinder's life forever.
