He sighs and she laughs, and they fall together into another comfortable silence. Lucanis has never been one to speak where he could give a thoughtful act instead, so she has begun to note how much he seemingly has to say this evening. Out here on the lagoon, together with him, she would have been more than happy to simply sit with him, and make out with him, long and deep, until both of them had swollen lips in desperate need of balm.
The longer this silence lasts, however, she senses that there is little stillness in it. Lucanis may be holding himself relaxed, his head may be turned out towards the water, but she can feel the torrential coursing of his thoughts. Like a dog running the same lap, around and around, speeding up even as the exertion is exhausting him.
She squeezes his hand. His arm. “You can just tell me, you know.”
“What?” It almost isn’t a question as his attention snaps to her, she who has gone nowhere, who has remained here at his side.
“Whatever it is you’re thinking,” she assures him. “Whatever it is you have to say.”
