Philippus abandons his creation. Years later, curiosity brings him back.
“I thought you would be dead, in truth.” Philippus peels off his gore-encrusted gloves, dropping them on the table. Stretching his fingers as he meets Simon’s gaze.
Simon matches his nonchalance, although the quiver of his lips betrays him. “No, not dead just yet.” He steps around the table so that he can grab Philippus’ arm, soft at first, as if forgetting who he’s dealing with: the man who made him, who abandoned him because he wasn’t enough. He will never be enough.
