Summary
What begins as a whisper in the Red Keep, a poisoned phrase, a missing clerk, a stolen packet, grows into a hidden campaign aimed at the heart of the Targaryen line. As old grievances about blood, succession, and favor spread through court, household, and city, Aerion becomes the first to sense the shape of the threat, though being right only makes him more dangerous to his own family. But that is yet to be their first threat when the spring sickness knocks at their door. Is it simply a sickness or there is more to it? From the bright violence of Ashford to a darkening King’s Landing marked by sickness, unrest, and buried loyalties, the Targaryens are forced into conflict with an enemy that works through language, fear, and the weaknesses within their own house.

"I have nothing to entertain you with." Valarr's words cut off whatever else it was Aerion had to say. Relishing the way his teeth snapped together at being interrupted. Hoping it managed to annoy him even a little compared to how he had been acting today.
When he looked up, Valarr stilled. Violet eyes looked nearly black in the soft light, suddenly thankful that Aerion had come when the fires were still fresh and bright. The thought of waking up to that sight in the near dark had something racing up his spine; an electric fear that seemed to seep through his muscles, slow and almost pleasant, the longer his cousin watched him.
Then Aerion smiled once more. Too tight. Too forced. One that barely reached his eyes, as rare as that was. Each slow step brought him closer, and Valarr sighed, feigning annoyance as he looked for the book he had just placed down. Using the moment to check for his belt, his knife, just in case it was needed.

Summary
Valar loves routines, loves control, loves always keeping everything in its proper place. He wakes up, makes his bed with perfect precision, has his breakfast — black coffee and toast accompanied by homemade jam made from sweet, fresh fruits. He loves a clean and organized environment, so that his mind can also remain clear and organized.
But that changed drastically ever since he and Aerion started sharing an apartment — his parents’ idea, of course. They thought it would be a good way to supervise Aerion during his time at university and, so, in Valar’s second year in the course, Aerion was invading his apartment.
His younger cousin was very expansive, and it didn’t take long for the apartment to start reflecting that. The floor was constantly littered with discarded clothes and jewelry, wrinkled fabrics that scratched against Valar’s bare feet when he crossed the room. The furniture, once perfectly aligned, was always slightly out of place, as if the entire house had been pushed a few centimeters off its axis.
OR Aerion is being a menace to Valarr’s sanity (Valarr secretly likes this)
