Summary
Jungkook knows to do his best. At all times. At the very least, he'd have died an honorable death in the Southern Mountains surrounded by his fellow soldiers and thoughts of his family. A respectable, and expected way to go.
Instead, his bravery lands him in the one place he never thought he'd see. Kneeling at the feet of the king in the expansive throne room.
His heart is beating fast as he sweeps his gaze around, scanning for threats that he knows aren't there. And when he meets the dragon eyes of the king, his poor heart stops beating entirely.
A smile breaks out over the king's face. It isn't warm. It isn't friendly. It isn't forced. Jungkook is mesmerized, unsure of what to make of it.
Namjoon licks his lips once, cold gaze unshifting, before speaking. "Thank you," he says at last. "For your service in the war. And for accepting the invitation to join my harem."
