Description:

When your best friend is perfect and you're perfectly hopeless, what's a boy to do? For Albus Potter, fifth year at Hogwarts was complicated enough before Geoff Creevey—son of a beloved school professor, prefect extraordinaire, and walking testament to the unfairness of genetic lottery—started tutoring Scorpius Malfoy—his Scorpius Malfoy!—in Charms.

Armed with flowcharts, surveillance notes, and an Extension-Charmed robe full of "evidence," Albus launches increasingly elaborate schemes to expose Geoff's supposed plot to steal Scorpius's heart. But each attempt only seems to make the insufferably perfect Hufflepuff look even better—and worse for Albus.

Between enchanted turkeys, rogue broomboards, and microphones with minds of their own, Albus discovers that sometimes the biggest mysteries aren't the ones we set out to solve. A heartwarming tale about friendship, family legacies, and finding the courage to say what matters most—before someone else beats you to it.

Perfect for fans of awkward romance, magical mishaps, and perfect people with secrets worth keeping.

And they still haven't had their first kiss.

Notes:

Quick Notes:

These stories were written long ago, mostly. Cleaned up, recently. It is "unbeta'd." My hold of Harry Potter knowledge (and in particular Hogwarts) is tenuous at best. I don't remember a lot of the specific details. So expect fun. But do not expect accuracy. ;)

Longer Notes:
There was always something magical about the Children of the Epilogue era. These characters were basically stand-ins for Harry and Draco, sure, but they were blank canvases waiting to be painted—Albus and Scorpius could be anything we wanted them to be, unburdened by canon. Want them in Hufflepuff? Brilliant! Fancy a Slytherin Albus and Gryffindor Scorpius? Why not! And let's be honest, the fandom acronym AS/S was too delicious to resist.

This series began its life nearly two decades ago with "I Would Totally Shag Your Father" and "But We Haven't Even Kissed Yet." The seeds of clueless!Scorpius and lovesick!Albus were lovingly planted and "Best Mates, Maybe More?" was born—then life, as it often does, intervened.

The landscape shifted: LiveJournal imploded, the movies wrapped up, and Rowling's post-series additions via interviews and Pottermore felt increasingly like attempts to keep a fading flame alive. The story sat in my digital archives, a constant reminder whenever I cleaned out files: "Remember that Colin Lives story? Remember Albus and Scorpius? We're still here, you know?"

I can't quite explain why 2025 was finally the year these characters demanded their story be finished. Perhaps some magic just needs time to mature. Perhaps the characters of my original story, with whom I'm in love, need some time apart. (They are wont to demand such things.)

This series is my thank you to that community, to the friends made through shared stories, and to the characters who waited so patiently to have their tale told.

Even if it took twenty years to get to their first kiss.
