Summary
He watches you bite into a peach, and its dusk-pink skin breaks beneath your teeth with a wet, crisp noise as you tear through to the soft and yielding flesh beneath. Then you bite down again, and your lips are shiny with nectar now, dripping with it.
A clear rivulet of peach juice runs down your wrist like blood. You raise your arm to your mouth to catch it, then trace it back to its source with your tongue, and he can’t help but wonder at the taste — the sweetness of fruit mixed with the salt of your skin.

As you unbutton his shirt, you follow every inch of revealed skin with your mouth, trailing a line from his collarbone to his belt. His breath catches in his throat when you touch him, the familiar sound now cause for dread, what once signified arousal now a warning of the cough to follow.
(Now with optional happy ending, because I am weak.)

His dismount is shaky, his breathing labored and irregular as he covers his eyes with one hand and uses the other to brace himself against a nearby tree. “I think I’m goin’ into rut. But it doesn’t make sense. Wouldn’t happen unless… no. No, you couldn’t be.”
But all his senses speak otherwise. Your fever. The glint of gold in your irises. That scent, so unmistakably sweet, that’s only intensified since morning. Osmanthus and cold water, strong enough now that he can nearly taste it on his tongue.
“You’re not really a beta, are you?”
You stare at the ground, wishing that you could sink into it and disappear. “I’m sorry.”
