Chapter Text
Ian’s hands are a little shaky as he goes through the items inside his first aid kit. It’s not as if he was oversensitive to blood or anything, but it was fair to say that the amount of blood coming from Riley’s nostrils was quite impressive, and that she still appeared to be in considerable pain.
Riley was sitting on his desk. Stubborn as she was, she didn’t want to be sent to the nurse’s, which left Ian no choice but to look around for his own first aid kit which consisted of some cotton balls, band-aids and some stripes of gauze, and deal with the situation himself.
“So…” he begins “Getting into fights now, are we? Should we make an appointment about violent outbursts, Miss Anderson?”
He chuckles at his own teasing, but the tension is still noticeable in his tone. Riley rolls her eyes at him but instantly regrets it, feeling a sting on her already sensible face.
“Oh, get off your high horse. This is your fault.” She answers.
“Here.” He hands her a painkiller he found in his briefcase which Riley quickly swallows, and joins her with a piece of gauze in his hand. He clearly doesn’t know what to do and Riley bites her lip so she wouldn’t laugh at his visible discomfort. Ian begins to delicately wipe her nose with the cloth and as he goes to tap away the blood from Riley’s upper lip, her amusement fades into pain.
“Alright, alright. Hand it over.” She takes the gauze from his hand and shapes it into a small roll before stuffing it up her right nostril. “First we stop the bleeding, then we wipe the blood, genius.”
As much as he wanted to have a proper witty retort, Ian was still dumbfounded at the prior events that led to this intimate nursing session.
“I didn’t punch you.” He points out.
“I got punched because I stood up for you.”
“Well, I’m happy you have eighteenth century ideals and didn’t think twice about defending my honour, Riley.”
“You’re welcome.” She smiles, ignoring the particular sharp sting in the middle of her face and instead focusing on Ian’s proximity. Were they completely incapable of staying away from eachother? He wanted to say something about last night, she could see it in his face. But she appreciated that he didn’t.
Ian chose to ignore the tension that engulfed his office. There were other things to focus on; more important things. Besides, come to think of it, he never had someone stand up for him over anything, let alone get into a physical confrontation for him. And Riley of all people…
“You think I’ve never heard people saying mean things about me ‘behind my back’?” His little smile disappears, and he leans back against his desk. “I don’t really care. I mean, thanks for going through the trouble, but it was stupid. You could’ve just told the person to fuck off.”
“I did.” Riley shrugged.
“And then left, without getting sucker-punched on the nose.”
She knew that. But something in her kept her from taking the high road. With a sigh, Riley swings her legs off the desk and smooths out her skirt. Staying here was fun and comfortable but now that her face wasn’t painted red and she wasn’t tasting copper anymore, Riley had to face the consequences of her ridiculous actions.
“I know I shouldn’t have assaulted a person.” She says, stepping away from Ian and turning around long enough to miss the frustration on his face the moment he realises that she was leaving “But I don’t want anyone making fun of you, Ian.”
“Why?” He asks, sceptical, afraid he might not hear the words he was expecting so much to hear.
Riley has her hand around the doorknob and it’s as if her heartbeats are echoing through the small room. Ian’s dumb big brown eyes stare at her over the brim of his glasses, igniting the inconvenient fluttering in Riley’s lower stomach. She couldn’t look away, her own eyes lingering on Ian’s uneven haircut, his cute cotton vest…
She didn’t have it in her to leave his office with a simple thank you. And Ian feels so relieved about it.
“Would it help if I told you I broke things up with Georgia this morning?” He asks, recalling the rather tricky phone call he had earlier.
The information catches Riley entirely off-guard, and for a moment her line of thought is entirely blurry; she couldn’t leave this room without knowing what this was.
She lets go of the doorknob and quickly turns the lock instead before going back to face Ian. Both of them are uncertain about what was going to happen now that their little game had finally come to an end.
Ian tenses up when Riley approaches him again. There’s no need to maintain a safe distance anymore, no need to worry about doing the right thing. Riley’s jaw is tight. She was nervous but no longer conflicted.
“Because I like you, Ian.” She confesses, her own voice surprising her.
Her straightforwardness startles and relieves Ian all at once. He half expected her to storm out again, but she didn’t. She doesn’t.
“You like me.” It’s a confirmation. More to himself than to anyone else “Like a friend or more like-like, as in exchanging bodily fluids and filing a stack of paper with the dean?”
She smiles at him “The second option” she says, before leaning in, her hands grabbing Ian by his vest.
She initiates it; and Ian kisses back. Like he should’ve done last night; like he should’ve probably done that night they went out for drinks, too. It’s needy and urgent, and way too careless for someone who had pieces of gauze sticking out of her nose. The uncomfortable sting is still there but it doesn’t stop them. No words are exchanged and there’s nothing but needy gasps, ragged breathing and little moans that are occasionally shushed by Ian.
His hands travel her thighs cautiously, feeling the smooth skin he’s longed to touch for so long, marvelling silently at how complying Riley was being to him. Her breath gets caught in her throat and her knees buckle slightly when his fingers start to disappear underneath her skirt, pulling her body even closer to his.
The novelty slowly fades, giving way to something more intense, and before they know it, the two have moved away from the desk; far too horny to realize that they weren’t being quite as inconspicuous as they thought they were.
Even if the couch seemed like a much better and comfortable option, they wind up stumbling their way to Ian’s chair, knocking over several things from the desk on their way.
Ian lands on his chair and even though the position isn’t the most ideal one, Riley straddles his lap. His hands are on each side of her hips, desperately trying to pace things; to pace her, but it’s just no use. The second Riley starts fumbling with his belt, Ian loses all interest in being reasonable.
His eyes travel from her hands to her sensitive nose, to her plump lips and he kisses her again. Relishing in the comfort that she liked him. That she wanted him just as much as he did her.
There would be time to go over this later, to ponder whether this was irresponsible and stupid some other time but right now, Riley wants nothing more than to be with Ian.
He’s hard in his corduroy trousers ad he moans – slightly too loud – when the smooth skin of Riley’s palm comes in contact with his cock. Ian throws his head back, hazed by the sensation. It had been so fucking long since someone else had touched him like that. He groans and his fingers instinctively dig deeper into Riley’s skin.
He utters a whispered “fuuuuck”, and Riley places her lips on his exposed neck.
Every touch, every kiss is so sloppy and rushed; the sensations are so overwhelming to Ian that he feels he might come right there. Riley strokes his cock slowly, setting an agonizing pace, watching as Ian’s expressions change from agony to delight under her touch.
They’re amazed and slightly shocked by how quickly things have escalated. Neither had predicted any of this would happen, at least not like this.
Riley takes her hand away; its absence gets immediately noticed by Ian who inhales sharply in relief. He watches as she pulls out the blood-stained gauze out of her nose, before diving back to press her lips to his.
“You alright?” He manages to ask in between kisses, the low tone of his voice sending shivers down Riley’s body. She nods giddily, noticing how Ian’s hand slowly descend from her cheeks to rest on her waist underneath her skirt, then lower to her inner thigh.
For a while, Riley thought that Ian would be astonishingly immature in such situations. But that idea gradually disappeared as they continued to hang out. And soon Riley found herself imagining how good he could be… How good he would feel.
Ian’s hand moves again, and he notices how Riley’s breathing becomes more erratic, and how her eyes roll back the moment his fingers find her cunt.
“Ian…” She moans against his ear “get on with it, we’ll have time for this later.”
Yes, she liked the foreplay, and yes, she liked to have slow passionate sex but right now she wanted to feel him.
The promise of later, and whatever it implied, is almost too much for Ian. Riley wraps her hand around his cock again, and she can see that Ian’s clearly concentrating as much as he physically can for his jaw is tight and his voice is low when he speaks.
“Steady, Anderson.” He uses her last name, maybe in an attempt to assert authority, maybe just to exacerbate Riley’s desperation but she stills, watching as Ian leans back a little to grab something from one of his messy drawers.
His hands fumbles through the mess and quickly emerges with a single condom. Ian manages to rip the wrapper open with his teeth and as he goes to roll it down, his eyes meet Riley’s again. The hand he has on her thigh moves to keep her knickers out of the way as Riley slowly sinks onto his cock.
“Ohfuck“ She mumbles into his sweater vest as Ian bites his lower lip to avoid crying out.
When Riley straightens her posture, she has the foresight of taking Ian’s glasses off, carefully placing it on the other end of the desk. Never had she experienced this sort of sordid intimacy with anyone else. And for all this to be happening inside his office was just so fucking overwhelming.
She rolls her hips rhythmically, repeating the movement, basking in Ian’s soft touch as his hand goes to cup her cheek while the other finds her hip.
They don’t speak, but Riley knows he’s almost there. And Ian fills her so perfectly, and he’s holding her so close, she won’t last much longer either. Her pace quickens while their eyes are still locked when Riley’s breathing becomes erratic. She comes violently, and loudly if it weren’t for Ian muffling her moans with his lips. The way she eased into him, how they melted into one another, the feeling of her clenching around him sends him over the edge as well and Ian shudders under her.
Sweaty and out of breath, they both stay there for a moment. Completely lost in… whatever this was.
Normally, this moment was followed by Ian gathering his things and leaving, never being asked to stick around. He had learned not to put too much meaning into it. He avoids Riley’s warm eyes now and pulls out slowly, expecting some sort of rejection but it never comes.
Instead, Riley leans in, and this time the kiss is calming. There’s no rush. And Ian melts into her again. And again. And Again.
Everything was new territory. Fifteen minutes ago they were just friends and now neither of them really knew what they were anymore. All they knew was they’d happily do it again. And again. And again.
Riley smiles against his lips. “I better go. Technically I shouldn’t even be on campus right now, let alone sitting on your lap.”
Ian watches as she moves away, adjusting her clothes, tucking in her shirt and smoothing out her skirt nonchalantly. He needs an extra second to understand what was happening.
“Right.” He frowns, remembering the earlier events of that afternoon “I’ll go with you.”
He stands up as well, grabbing his glasses and quickly turning around to toss the used condom in the nearby bin and tuck himself back into his trousers. Riley grabs her backpack from the floor and goes for the door but Ian keeps her from unlocking it.
“Are you coming back?” He asks suddenly, the question takes Riley entirely by surprise.
“To Greendale? I hope so.”
“As my assistant, I mean.” He clarifies, unsure where this little intimate session had left them.
Was he out of his mind? She never demonstrated any intention of leaving!
Riley tries to hide her smile but fails. “Not your assistant, Ian.”
A wave of relief washes over Ian as he unlocks the door.
They both leave the small office, ignoring the scattered pens and the lamp on the floor.
