Calvin Gabirel was fucked from birth. An accident child; a product of a drug addicted woman and a criminal man’s mistake. His ‘father’ died when he was too young to remember, his mom was out of his life. Living with his grandparents in Connecticut, he met Andre Kriegman. Little did he know this would be his downfall.
When Andre and Cal were in 7th grade Andre started experimenting with substances. Calvin had begged him numerous times to stop. Though of course, he never listened.
The next year Andre had assured Cal over and over he was sober, - after countless times of Cal having breakdowns to him; begging him to stop - however this was the time of Andre's spiral. Starting to do even harder drugs he fell deeper into this cycle of addiction. He started to care less and less about hiding this from Cal. He started to care less and less about Cal in general.
Cal started to notice the changes in Andre. How he came around less, skipped school more, stopped answering Cal’s messages. Cal was worried sick and couldn't take being away from Andre any longer, so he decided to go to the boys house to figure out what was truly happening. Knocking on the Kriegman’s household door he was nearly shaking out of his skin from fear. After 5 minutes of no answer Cal pushed the door open himself to find what he thought was an empty house. This is when he heard slight shuffles coming from upstairs. Telling himself he needs to do this for Andre, he makes his way up the stairs.
As he creeps closer to Andre's door the slight noises get louder. Cal pushes the door open only to find a sight that haunts him to this day. He finds Andre, passed out on the floor in his own vomit. He nearly throws up himself at the sight. Andre looked dead.
Cal runs to Andre on the floor and immediately tries to wake him up, to see any hint of life left in the boy's body. As he's shaking him, Andre starts to wake up. Cal's crying at this point begging God to let Andre live. He doesn't know what he would do if Andre was gone. He couldn't live without the other boy. Finally he notices the movement in him and pulls him into a hug, ignoring how hes covering himself in the other boys vomit. “What the fuck happended ‘dre what did you do..” Cal mutters under his breath between sobs.
