Chapter Text

Where is she? Why isn't she back yet?

Isamu's internal dialog ran amuk with worries. The bathroom is right next to the dining hall, why does it feel like she'd gone all the way to the opposite side of the building? Was Hoshiko okay?

"She probably just needs alone time, I should go back to my room like I said I would. If there's still no sign of her in the next hour, I'll get a search party together," she promised herself under her breath as she got up from her seat.

She had barely taken three steps away from the table when the bell rang.

Ding, dong, dong, ding!

The sound was just like a school bell, but for some reason Isamu was rooted to the ground in fear. The announcements started with a sound like an old landline phone being picked up.

"A body has been discovered! Now then, after a certain amount of time has passed, the class trial will begin!"

Monokumas announcement left everyone in shock. He spoke with far too much enthusiasm.

Isamu hadn't noticed, but her internal dialog of, "No, no, no, no!" had begun to pour out of her mouth, getting louder and more panicked as she dashed out of the door to search everywhere that her friend could have gone off to.

Everyone else instantly started panicking, but Isamu didn't stay long enough to care about what to do next. She could hear Yoshi behind her yelling instructions, but were her classmates even listening? Who cared.

Isamu was in full panic mode now as she crashed into the bathroom, shoulder hitting the brick wall as she failed to turn properly.

"Hoshiko! Please be in here!" she called out, panting, almost out of breath.

No one responded.

All of the stall doors were wide open. Checking inside, she found no dead bodies and no Hoshiko. Shit.

She ran out of there faster than when she ran in. She went down the hall, praying that she wouldn't trip. She figured that maybe she would have ended up taking a detour to the science lab; that was her best bet now.

However, as she passed the library, she heard voices.

"Stop freaking out. Stop freaking out!"

"Hisashi, you're making it worse! We have the right to freak out!" Mana's voice was choked out with tears; that wasn't a good sign.

Isamu could also hear panting: someone else was there, hyperventilating, stressed out over something.

She changed her course, stepping down the three short stairs that lead into the library. Thank goodness, Hoshiko was there, but this was no time to celebrate. As soon as she walked in, she could see why the trio had been so freaked out.

Shizen Koda was dead on the floor.
