Chalk

Summary:

Hoshiko and Isamu spend a little while drawing on the sidewalk, because they're married and it's their day off and they can do whatever they want to.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

"Whatcha doin'?"

"Important stuff. Important meteorologist stuff."

"It looks like you're drawing bugs with sidewalk chalk?"

"As I said, important stuff."

Isamu crouched down beside her wife, picking up a piece of pink chalk. "Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all, go right ahead." Hoshiko turned her attention back to the spots on her ladybug drawing.

They were side by side, Hoshiko laying on her stomach and Isamu sitting on her knees (until she got uncomfortable and started sitting cross-legged). They worked independently on their masterpieces, giggling like little kids whenever one would vandalize the other's work with little chalk hearts.

Hoshiko tucked a strand of silver hair behind her ear and pushed herself up to a sitting position. She dusted off as much of the colorful dust as she could and placed the green chalk stick she had been using back into the plastic box. "What do you think of my praying mantis?"

"It's beautiful! I wish we could frame peices of sidewalk so I could put it in a museum where it belongs."

"Oh hush, you flatter me too much." She looked over at her wife's art. "Did you draw us? That's adorable."

The therapist giggled. "And here's Pepper, next to all the fish. This one's Nemo, and that one is Jonah, and I forgot the rest of their names."

"Oh, that reminds me, did you feed the fish today?"

"Mhmm, I always do when you oversleep, you deserve rest on your days off. And before you ask, I also fed Pepper. After that, we went and got your coffee. She was a very polite, good girl and the barista gave her a treat."

Hoshiko smiled, giving Isamu a kiss on the cheek. "I should sleep in 'til noon more often," she joked. "Thank you for being so perfect, honey."

After that, the duo packed up the chalk and brought it inside where they were greeted by a very enthusiastic poodle. They spent the rest of their Saturday afternoon the couch, watching nostalgic movies and cuddling.

Notes:

I really need to write more fluff scenes in the main storyline, but this will have to do for now.
