You threw your bag into the corner of your bedroom and plopped down on your gaming chair and sighed.
Today, you had a particularly annoying presentation that's been on your mind for weeks. It was finally over and you could relax again.
You logged into your PC and opened Discord again, seeing he was already online. A few seconds later, a notification from xKingofAshesx popped up.

it went fine until my professor started asking all these unnecessarily hard questions
i'm sorry about that, your literature professor again?
you guessed it haha... wanna play Mario Kart? i wanna blow off some steam

You hopped on a voice call with him.
"Can't wait for tomorrow, my friend invited me to a cat café", you said, starting up the game.
"Oh? Thats nice", xKingofAshesx replied, his voice dry.
"Yeah, we haven't seen each other since High School, so I'm glad we can catch up again", he could hear the smile in your voice.
"So it's not Midoriya?", your online friend asked.
"No, no, her name is Asui", you replied, joining him in game and choosing Toad as your character.
"You haven't mentioned anything about her yet", xKingofAshesx chose Dry Bones, "You got a lot of female friends?"
"No, just her, really", you said, selecting a motorcycle, "The cat café she invited me to is called Princess Paws. They've got the best strawberry shortcake ever, I swear."
You could hear a faint clicking of a keyboard in the background of the call.
"Mhm, yeah, I think I heard about it...", xKingofAshesx said, voice trailing off.
"By the way, which city are you from? You always stay mysterious, Ash", you laughed.
"Shizuoka", he replied.
"That's not too far away", you grinned, "Maybe we could meet up some day if you're not too busy."
"Which cup?", his cursor slid over the various tracks.
"Lightning cup, if that's alright with you", you suggested.
"Anything's fine with me", he said and cleared his throat, the familiar horns of the countdown starting.
You hit the sweet spot when you accelerated and got a boost, driving away in front of the other players. You laughed. xKingofAshesx drove close behind you.

You talked long after the race, long after you had won (or he let you win). He let you rant about your annoying professors and the nice barista who remade your bubble tea because she gave you cherry boba instead of strawberry, about the adorable ducks in the park right next to your apartment complex and even your overflowing bath tub.
"And how did you notice?", he asked.
"I was lying on the couch when I looked up, and the floor was weirdly shiny. Then I got up and walked around the corner, I stepped into the damn puddle and my socks were all soaked. Then I opened the door and saw I seriously forgot I wanted to take a bath", you rolled your eyes and smiled crookedly.
"Happened to me too a while ago but thankfully, the room had a drain", he shared, and let an amused breath out of his nose.
"I wish, but no. Had to get my mop and bucket and clean the whole floor", you groaned, remembering that night.
"You're clumsy", xKingofAshesx said. "I guess so", you grinned, "People keep telling me I'm a bit of a naive airhead, maybe they got a point."
He didn't reply, he just chuckled.
"I guess I should go to bed soon. I got classes pretty early tomorrow", you said and yawned.
"Good night", xKingofAshesx said.
"Night, Ash", you smiled and left the voice chat. He sent you a gif of a sleeping cat and captioned it with "you now?", you reacted with a laughing emoji.

The next day, you left the university and made your way into the city, walking up to a pastel-coloured building with bubbly letters saying "Princess Paws".
A girl stood in front, waving to you.
"Hey, Tsu!", you waved back and hugged her, "God, we haven't seen each other in like what? Three years?"
"Y/N!", she hugged you back, "I'm so happy to see you again, how's uni?"
"Me too! It's great, I'm studying English right now. What about you?", you pulled away and smiled.
"Biology, it's really cool", she opened the door, "We're studying amphibians right now."
"That's fun, I'm glad you finally found something you're interested in", you said and followed her inside.
"Yeah... I tried nursing, but it just wasn't for me", she smiled.
A waiter came over and seated you, you got a nook next to the window by the cat tree.
"Your hair got really long, it suits you", you said.
"Thanks!", she sat down and opened the menu.
You both looked at the various items they had and then ordered. You got some green tea and your favorite, the strawberry shortcake. Tsuyu got a lemon water and a lychee jelly pudding. A gray cat approached your table and walked around your legs.
"They're adorable. I can't wait to adopt a cat someday", you said.
"I wish, but Uraraka is allergic", Tsu explained, and ate a bite of her food.
"You're still roommates? That's awesome", you said, "The only ones I kept in touch with are Izuku and you now."
"I get it, everyone moved somewhere else. It's hard to keep track. Last I heard, Tenya is studying to become a teacher, but it's already been a few months since we talked", Tsu shrugged, nostalgia washing over both of you.
"I remember how obsessed he was with his grades. No wonder he wants to teach now", you grinned and had a fork of cake, "Izuku is also going into teaching. He changed his major two years ago. He originally tried studying politics."
"That fits him way better, he was always great with kids", Tsu petted the gray kitty who now finally plopped down on the cat tree next to you.
You nodded and snapped a picture for your Instagram story.

You talked for a while and then paid, leaving the café and parting ways, promising to try and meet up again. You walked home, taking the longer route through the park. The ducks were here again, ducking their heads underwater and trying to find food. You snapped another pic.
You walked up the stairs to your apartment and entered. The day was finally done.
You opened Discord. An immediate notification.

yeah :-) we pet an adorable cat at the cafe and i had some of that cake i told you about!

You opened Instagram on your phone and searched for his username, then found the profile. It didn't have any pictures or reposts and no followers. The bio said "why are you here? no one else is". You clicked on follow and immediately got the request granted, him following you back.

You opened Discord mobile and hopped on the call.
"Hey, Ash", you said, your voice clearly sleepy.
"Thanks for calling, Y/N", xKingofAshesx said, "I just haven't really talked to anyone today."
"No problem. You can always call me", you yawned, "Exept maybe if I'm already asleep."
"I bought Minecraft on sale today, do you have it?", he asked.
"God, I think so. I gotta have the game somewhere still", you said.
"You mean like a physical?", he laughed.
"I'm a sucker for those, yes, but I got the game as a gift years ago", you explained and pulled the blanket closer to your face.
"Ah, I see. If you're interested, maybe we could play tomorrow?", xKingofAshesx asked.
You turned to your side in your small bed and yawned again.
"I think I'm gonna fall asleep soon", you said, "Sure, tomorrow sounds fine. If I can find it though."
"If not, I'll buy it for you", he said.
"Ugh, no", you laughed, "Please don't spend your money on me. I'm a broke college kid but I dont need a sugar daddy."
His end went silent for a few moments until a dry laugh came out of his mouth.
"Anyway, I'd just be happy to play with you", he said.
"When do you go to bed anyway?"
"Depends. Lately around 3am."
"God damn. Please go to sleep earlier today, Ash."
"Yes sir", you could hear the smile in his voice.
"Okay, good night."
"Good night."
You left the voice chat and turned off your bedside lamp so you could finally sleep.
