Chapter Text
You sat in your apartment, spending your what felt like only day off relaxing in your living room and doing nothing besides watch tv. You were staying up late, as one did when they had nothing to do the next day, watching your favorite television show and snacking on something that your stomach would punish you for later. You flicked through your phone, attempting to absorb as much content as humanly possible before you had to become a jujutsu sorcerer once again.
The other students were in the city drinking until their liver begged them to stop, forgetting their name and probably being thrown into jail for public intoxication. You opted out, completely aware that you were not the most cooperative drunk. You were also declared the official nurse if anyone needed to run home, and you hadn’t heard anything from anyone yet. A yawn escaped your lips, and just as you mentally prepared yourself for sleep your phone started buzzing in your hand.
It was a familiar contact, but he rarely contacted you unless he was dying or someone else was. Nobara and Yuuji were the ones who officially elected you as nurse, and of course the infamous Megumi was lingering around as well. He was the one who was calling you, the absurd photo you snuck of him blaring on your screen as your phone chimed— pleading for you to pickup. You groaned to yourself, clicking the green button expecting blaring music and the grumpy teen screaming into his phone.
But there was silence for the first few seconds, then the sound of Megumi scolding Yuuji and the pink haired teen hiccuping. Megumi sounded utterly exhausted and annoyed, more so than usual.
“I am headed to your place— I need to drop off Yuuji then take Nobara to Gojo.” He said, more like a statement instead of confirming whether or not you could even care for the drink. You heard Yuuji whining about something, then Megumi snapped at him to be quiet. They had a quick conversation about who Megumi was on the phone with, and when Yuuji squeezed your name out of him he snatched up the device. You heard his voice, all bubbly and joyous as if he hadn’t a care in the world.
“H—hey you! I’m going to your house!” He chuckled, shushing Megumi and hiccuping obnoxiously loud. You giggled, raising to your feet and starting to collect necessary items that he may need to recover. Water, a bucket, Advil, melatonin, probably pepto bismol. You spoke into the phone as you arranged the items and began preparing a small cup of tea for yourself to ensure you wouldn’t fall asleep before he arrived.
“I heard, Yuuji. Can you see my building?” You asked, and you heard him shouting something and probably beginning to sprint off. Megumi somehow collected his phone back and cursed under his breath before hanging up on you. You chuckled, and then you heard the slamming of much too eager feet on concrete, then the familiar voice of Megumi shouting at hopefully Yuuji.
Almost as if on cue, your phone started ringing from the downstairs door. And you answered and buzzed the two in. They would be to your apartment in a matter of seconds, and you stood in the kitchen waiting for them as you stirred your tea absentmindedly. Your front door was unlocked, mostly due to the fact that you were labeled nurse for tonight and drunk people had a hard time with doors.
Then your door smashed open, and Yuuji squealed your name as if you were a celebrity crush of his. You looked over at where the noise was coming from, Yuuji stumbling a tad and Megumi looking like he wanted to murder himself and everyone in the room. You chuckled, and Yuuji slowly looked over to you before smiling brightly. He waved at you, purring out your name as he pushed off of the wall and walked towards you. Megumi stood in your doorway staring at you, and he rolled his eyes at Yuuji before closing the door to your apartment and leaving.
Yuuji walked over to you, smiling brightly and enveloping you in a hug. He melted against you slightly, smiling like an idiot as he coddled you in his arms like he was a toddler. You chuckled slightly, patting his back as you spoke, your speech slurred as he smashed your face against his collarbone.
“You should drink some water, Yuuji.” You giggled, Yuuji nodding in agreement yet not moving to pull himself off of you. You slowly pushed off of him, and in response he followed behind you like an eager dog. He hiccuped as he peered over your shoulder at what you were doing, and you restrained laughter as you handed him a cup of water and ordered him to sit down. He did so, holding the cup in his hands and speaking.
“Are you—hic— taking me back to Nanamin? Or Gojo sensei?” He asked, tilting his head at you as he watched you grab an Advil for him. You shook your head no, speaking as you counted out two of the red pills and looked towards him.
“No, you’ll sleep in my bed. I’ll sleep on the couch.” You said, sitting down across from him and placing the pills in his palm. He didn’t do anything with them, just holding the things as he spoke and tilted his head at you once again.
“But you’ll get lonely.” He said, his eyes watering just a bit as he stared at you. He spoke once again, leaning a bit closer to you as he stared at you intently. His breath smelled strongly of sake and something else, his cologne mixed with the scent of whatever bar Nobara dragged him to. “I don’t want you to be lonely.” He winced.
You smiled, patting the top of his head and speaking as you grinned brightly at him. “I won’t be lonely— take the Advil.”
You cooed, pointing to the pills in his palm. The red dye had smeared onto his hand, but he didn’t seem to care as he shoved them into his mouth and swallowed without water. You chuckled at him, grabbing a papertowel and taking his hand in your own. You wet the towel with your tongue, dabbing it onto his hand and pawing at the dye until it relinquished its hold on his skin and sucked into the towelette. He stared at you, his fingers holding onto your wrist just slightly as if he didn’t want to let go.
He was still watching you, his cheeks flushed a soft pink color. You crumpled up the paper towel and threw it onto your counter, making it a problem for future you. You let your hand rest in his own, his fingers leaving a trail of something fuzzy you’d never felt before. He was still watching you like you were the only thing worth looking at, his fingers curling around your entire hand completely. His skin was warm and calloused, but it was comforting and you wanted to feel it across every inch of your skin.
The television was still playing, but it had switched to a different channel about music. And it was almost perfect for the moment. Yuuji didn’t seem to notice, his eyelids heavy as he continued watching you. You looked back at him, your cheeks growing hotter by the second and your fingers twitching against his own. Your heart swelled, his body moving closer ever so slightly. His gaze flickered from your eyes and down to your lips, and you felt your cheeks growing hot as he leaned forwards.
Your fingers intertwined with his own, the heavy smell of sake still lingering on his breath. But you could recognize the second note— it was adoration. His entire body was quivering just slightly, like he had been vibrating on the wrong frequency for his whole life and he was now balanced. Your eyelids fluttered, your body moving on its own to lean into him.
Your lips ghosted against his own, your entire body was warm and screaming at you to kiss him. You swallowed uneasily, your eyes fluttering closed just slightly as you pushed your mouth against his own. Your fingers were still intertwined tightly, his other hand coming up and cupping at your face like he had been wanting this for longer than he could remember. You leaned into his lips, the taste of him lingering on your mouth as you freed your hand from his own and twirled your fingers into the fabric of his shirt.
You felt like you were floating on a plane that you didn’t know existed, the hairs on the back of your neck standing as a big hand of his gripped your hip and tugged you closer. His knee butted against your own, his body pulsing with need— you could feel it under your fingertips. You pulled off of him, stopping yourself before you took advantage of a drunk teenager.
He blinked at you like he was going to cry because you pulled away. You two stared at each other for a long time, your hands slowly falling away from him yet he continued to hold onto you. You stared at him, and he spoke with a shaky voice. He seemed to be sobered up now, his expression almost scared of the words about to escape his lips. He spoke before he could stop himself, his fingers tightening against you with his words.
“I love you.”
