"God, how did things come to this?" Reki asked himself dejectedly, punching in a number.
"We trespassed," said Langa bluntly. "You should know, you were there."
Reki sighed, shaking his head with a fond smile. "You're helpless, dude."
Langa didn't say anything, just staring at Reki with that face he always made, looking lost and like there were no thoughts in that head of his.
"I'm calling Cherry. Maybe he can get us out of here." Reki told him, holding the phone to his ear.
"Who is it?"
"Hello to you too, Kaoru."
Reki didn't need to see him to know he was rolling his eyes.
"Don't call me that. Anyway, what do you need? And why did it say you were taken into custody?"
Reki was silent for a moment. "Take a wild guess."
"You dumbass," Kaoru mumbled. "I'm not bailing you out."
Reki held the phone away, screamed silently, then held it back up to his ear. "Not just me. Langa's here too, so..."
"Babe, who is it?" a deep voice asked from the other end, and Reki smirked.
"Babe, huh?"
Kaoru sighed. "What did I say about calling me that, you ape?" he snapped.
"Aw, I thought you didn't get to call me that anymore either." Kajiro pouted.
"Ugh, we'll be there in 20."
"10?"
"Don't push your luck, kid."
Kajiro could be heard laughing before Kaoru hung up.
Reki sighed in relief. "Cherry and Joe will be here soon."
"Who's 'babe?'" Langa asked, tilting his head to the side.
Reki snickered. "Just a certain green-haired skater Cherry has an affinity for."
Langa blinked slowly. "Miki?"
"Ye- wait, who?"
"That green-haired chick who's old boyfriend you gave that wrecked board to. The first time I went to S."
Reki stared at him. "What, no? Joe!"
"Oh..." Langa's expression didn't change. "That makes more sense."
Reki elected not to continue this conversation and sank to the floor, leaning his head against the wall and closing his eyes as he waited for Kajiro and Kaoru.
"What did I tell you before?" Kaoru scolded. "If you're going to sneak out and skate on private property, at least try and be inconspicuous."
Reki rolled his eyes, resting his head on Langa's shoulder as they rode home in Kajiro's car. "I'll do better next time, Mom."
Kaoru folded his arms over his chest. "Good. Because I'm not bailing you out next time, and I'm certain this will be a recurring incident. Have fun behind bars."
"So," Langa began, "when did you two get together?"
Reki and Joe burst out laughing.
