Langa's a bit of a Dumbass

Summary:

“You dumbass,” Reki grumbled, tearing open a pack of antiseptic wipes. “I told you not to do that. It’s too dangerous, even for you. I know you think you’re invincible, but geez.“

“I’m fine, Reki, really. You don’t have to worry about me.“

Reki scowled and unrolled some gauze to wrap around Langa’s leg. “Don’t be an idiot. I signed up for this.“

Or

Langa gets injured after attempting a highly ambitious trick, and Reki lectures him (lovingly).

Notes:

I just watched Sk8, so...
I think I have a blue/red ship addiction...

Work Text:

“You dumbass,” Reki grumbled, tearing open a pack of antiseptic wipes. “I told you not to do that. It’s too dangerous, even for you. I know you think you’re invincible, but geez.“ Langa’s mouth twitched up slightly, but he winced when Reki began disinfecting the large scrape across his leg from a rough fall. “I mean really, you could have gotten a concussion if you weren’t so damn lucky. You nearly hit your head.“

“I’m fine, Reki, really. You don’t have to worry about me.“

Reki scowled and unrolled some gauze to wrap around Langa’s leg. “Don’t be an idiot. I signed up for this.“

Langa raised an eyebrow. “Why’s that?“

Renga scoffed, not making eye contact as he worked. “I decided to teach you, didn’t I? I’m not letting you die if I can help it. You’ve gotten enough injuries recently as it is, with Adam and all.”

Langa frowned. “Reki, I already told you… I’m not going to quit over an injury. Even if it is serious.“

“You don’t know that!“ Reki yelled, pulling the gauze so tight it cut off Langa’s circulation. He took a couple deep breaths and loosened his grip, mumbling an apology.

Langa sighed and gently cupped Reki’s cheek. “Yes I do. I love skating.“

Reki’s cheeks tinted pink, and he wouldn’t look Langa in the eyes. “That’s what he said.“

“I’m not him, Reki. I know the risks, and I’m willing to take them. Skating makes me feel things; happiness, passion… all the things I forgot how to feel for a while. I don’t think I could stay away from it even if it kills me.“

Reki wrapped a hand around Langa’s wrist. “But that’s what I’m afraid of. What if it does?“

Langa smiled softly. “You really think I’d let something like that happen?“ he teased. “We both know I’m too good for that.“

Reki cracked a small smile and rolled his eyes. “It just might happen if you get too cocky. Just… be a little more careful? I might have to make you wear equipment if you keep this up.“

Langa’s expression soured. “That’d slow me down though.”

“That’s the point, dumbass,“ He finished wrapping Langa’s leg and pressed a kiss to his knee, just above the bandages, making Langa blush a little. “Finished. It’d probably be wise not to push yourself too much for a little while so it can heal.“

“Okay. Thanks, Reki.“

Reki smiled and stood up, stretching his arms above his head. His expression sobered again. “Remember what I said, Langa. I’ve seen you do some really cool stuff, but you can’t do everything. Be careful.“

Langa stood up and shifted some weight between his legs. “I will.” He smiled. “Thanks.“

Reki grinned, seemingly back to his regularly hyper self. “No problem. Let’s start headin’ home. Meet you again tomorrow?“

Langa nodded and held his hand out.

Reki chuckled and initiated their handshake, giving Langa a little peck on the lips at the end before picking up his skateboard and tossing Langa’s to him. “Race you back?“

“I thought I couldn’t push myself too hard?“ Langa questioned, teasing.

Reki grinned and rolled his eyes. “You can’t. That’s why I’m gonna win.“
