The inside of my room was dark, the only light was my monitor's harsh glare. I kept refreshing my Emails hoping that I was one of a thousand to get into the beta for one of the most anticipated games ever, SAO, sword art online.
Usually I wouldn't care about these games with how much was going on in my daily life… but the allure of getting to be a woman, even if only for a short while in a virtual space was just too much for me to ignore.
Hell, looking to my left I could see the nervegear and just about every accessory you could get for it, minus the H-games ones though. All in all the entire setup must have cost me about two million yen, but it would all be worth it, I could just feel it.
A ding shattered my train of thought. A notification had come! Seeing the little circle spin was the most agonising moment I had ever experienced in my twenty years of life, but it finally loaded and- “Congratulations Naoe… you’ve become a beta tester…” my carefully controlled voice, perfectly manipulated to sound just like a woman read out with building anticipation.
“for Sword Art Online… Please click here to access your new game!” I couldn’t help myself, I jumped to my feet and let out a victory cry in my tiny apartment. I had fucking won! My shitty luck had turned around, and now as I threw myself onto the bed, nervegear in hand clutched to my chest, I couldn't wait for the game to download as I stared up at the ceiling with my most genuine smile in years.
