The same dream again.
Tonight they were in Kid's cabin aboard the Victoria Punk. The only reason Kid knew he was dreaming was the man sprawled across his bed like he owned the place.
"Hurry up, Eustass-ya."
Despite the bossy command, Kid wasn't annoyed in the slightest. If anything, Law's impatience only made Kid's pulse quicken.
He tossed his coat aside and crossed the room. He sat on the edge of the bed and reached up to cup Law's cheek. Law neither flinched nor hesitated. As though it were the most natural thing in the world, he leaned into Kid's hand and closed his eyes, almost like a cat leaning into a familiar touch.
Somehow, Kid knew exactly what Law wanted.
Kid leaned over him and kissed him.
Law kissed him back immediately, his tongue brushing against Kid's as though they'd done this a thousand times before.
The kiss quickly turned hungry as they devoured each other without restraint.
Law's arms circled Kid's neck, pulling him impossibly close. Not that Kid had any intention of leaving. He lingered, savoring the sweetness of Law's lips.
The mouth that was usually full of smart remarks was occupied now, reduced to soft, breathy sounds that only fueled Kid's desire.
"Mm..."
His hand slid from Law's cheek, tracing the curve of his ear before drifting down to the nape of his neck. Law trembled beneath the gentle caress, and every shiver sent another wave of heat pooling low in Kid's stomach.
Eventually they broke apart. Law loosened his grip, allowing Kid enough room to pull back. Kid found himself staring into those golden eyes, bright with quiet amusement.
He meant to take things further. Instead, before he knew it, he was kissing Law again. They could have stayed like that forever. Only after several more lingering kisses did Kid finally slip a hand beneath the hem of Law's shirt—
—and everything went black.
---
Kid woke in his cabin aboard the Victoria Punk.
The room was exactly the same. The only difference was that he was alone.
"...Goddamn it."
Muttering a curse, he climbed out of bed. All he wanted now was a cold shower to clear his head.
Seven days. For seven straight nights, he'd dreamed about Trafalgar Law.
These weren't ordinary dreams.
The first two nights, they'd only talked. On the third, they'd held hands. By the fifth, they were kissing. What had started as hesitant kisses had quickly turned into something neither of them seemed willing to end.
At this rate, tomorrow's dream wouldn't stop at kissing.
He had no idea why this kept happening.
There had been no warning. The dreams had simply started one night and refused to stop.
The real problem wasn't the dreams themselves. It was how impossible they were to dismiss as just dreams.
Day by day, his desire for Law only grew stronger. He found himself wanting to pin that slender body beneath him and have his way with him, to make every fantasy real.
He'd never even touched the real Law.
After his shower, one of the crew came to tell him that land was in sight.
It had been two weeks since they'd last gone ashore. The thought alone lifted Kid's spirits. Maybe setting foot on solid ground would finally distract him from these ridiculous dreams.
---
His good mood lasted right up until he spotted that idiotic yellow submarine anchored a short distance from the island's main harbor.
Just his luck—the Heart Pirates were here too.
At least the island wasn't that small. Surely they could leave again without running into each other.
That confidence didn't even last a day.
"Oh, it's the Heart Pirates."
One of Kid's crewmates called out before anyone could stop him.
Across the way, Kid caught the white bear saying, "Captain, it's the Kid Pirates."
The moment Law stepped out from behind one of his larger crewmates, Kid's heartbeat lurched. His skin prickled, and heat rushed straight to his face.
What the hell was this?
He felt like some lovestruck kid catching sight of his first crush. The thought alone made him want to crawl out of his own skin.
Law's reaction was even worse.
The instant their eyes met, Law froze. For a split second, genuine panic flashed across his face before he cast a ROOM and vanished without a word.
The dome of blue lasted only an instant, but Kid could've sworn Law's face had been even redder than his own.
The Heart Pirates looked just as stunned.
"Captain?!"
"Huh? What's wrong?!"
Kid didn't stop to think. Before he knew it, he was already chasing after Law.
His own crew shouted after him, but he waved them off without looking back.
Finding someone who could teleport wasn't exactly easy. Kid had no idea where Law had gone, and if he'd used ROOM again after that, the trail would've gone cold.
But he knew one thing: whenever Law cast a ROOM, Kid could tell. The dome was impossible to miss, and even if it appeared for only the briefest instant, he'd catch it with Observation Haki.
If Law had teleported again, Kid would've noticed.
He hadn't.
Recalling the size of the ROOM, Kid figured Law couldn't have gone far.
The object Law had swapped with had been nothing more than a plastic crate for empty bottles, the kind stacked behind bars and taverns. There were only so many places you'd find something like that.
So Kid started checking every back alley that seemed even remotely likely. Luck was finally on his side.
Less than ten minutes later, he found Law sitting alone on an overturned beer crate in a dim alley. The moment Kid stepped into it, Law looked up.
Kid couldn't let him get away again.
"Don't run, Trafalgar."
Kid knew Law well enough. Challenge a man who hated losing, and he'd never back down.
Just as he'd expected, the hand that had started to form a ROOM slowly curled into a fist instead. Law clicked his tongue and looked away.
Even after Kid came to a stop in front of him, Law made no move to use his powers.
Unexpectedly, Law spoke first. His voice was unusually subdued.
"...I've been dreaming about you."
Kid blinked. "You too?"
Law's head snapped up.
"You too? What do you mean? You've been having them too?"
Kid nodded.
An awkward silence settled between them. Clearly, there was no way it was all just a coincidence. Still, they had to compare notes.
"The first dream..." Kid said. "We were talking in what looked like an inn."
"The first night was aboard the Polar Tang."
"I've never dreamed about your ship."
So they weren't having the exact same dreams after all.
Even so, the similarities were impossible to ignore.
Law hesitated, clearly reluctant to continue. After a long pause, he let out a quiet sigh.
"...On the third night... you grabbed my hand."
Maybe Kid had been the one to reach out first. Hell, he'd probably initiated the kiss too.
But Law had squeezed his hand in return. Law had kissed him back. It hardly seemed fair that Kid should take all the blame.
Not that he had any interest in arguing over something so trivial.
"So everything after that was basically the same."
"...Could this be some kind of curse? Being forced to have these dreams for two weeks..."
"Wait. Two weeks?"
"Yeah. Yesterday was the thirteenth day."
"...Yesterday was only my seventh."
Law had been having the dreams for six days longer.
Which meant—
"So I've already fucked you?"
Law's face went scarlet.
"Don't ever say that out loud again."
"And if it's been thirteen days, then you've done it more than once."
"I can always make sure you never speak again."
The threat would've been a lot more convincing if Law hadn't been blushing so fiercely.
Seeing that expression—one Law never showed anyone—Kid couldn't look away.
And somewhere in those dreams, Law had already been beneath him. The thought alone sent a rush of heat through him.
He was supposed to be the one who'd experienced it.
There was no guarantee tonight's dream would pick up where the last one had left off.
Besides, no dream, no matter how real, could compare to the real thing.
Before he knew it, Kid had taken Law's hand. His body moved as naturally as it always had in those dreams.
Law looked up at him, startled, his face flushing an even deeper red.
Those golden eyes held surprise, embarrassment... and the faintest hint of anticipation.
Kid lifted the fingers of his metal hand and brushed them gently against Law's cheek. Their breaths mingled just before their lips met.
"Weren't you going to make me shut up?" Kid murmured.
"...Just shut up already."
The words had barely left Law's lips before Kid kissed him.
