Work Text:
Yuuji looks up at the sky, his skin against the dew drops on the grass. The sky is filled with all these different stars, forming many constellations. He remembers Megumi telling him about a few of them. He doesn't remember much anymore. He should ask him about them again; he loves hearing Megumi talk. The way he talks about the stars and constellations with a sense of nostalgia and a hint grief in his voice. It's calm and it's beautiful, Yuuji thinks it's one of the best things he's heard in his life.
Yuuji turns his head and—
Oh.
He closes his eyes and turns his head back to the sky, trying to remember what Megumi had told him all those many times, never getting tired of repeating it. He opens his eyes and repeats out loud whatever he remembers.
He says it to the dew drops on the grass, the stars in the sky, and the tears in his eyes. To the memory of himself and Megumi, sitting in the grass after visiting Tsumiki and Gojo's graves. To the headstone beside him, hoping Megumi could somehow hear him.
He closes his eyes and the tears fall. He eventually dozes off in the grass at the graveyard. It's December 22, 2200, and he wishes he would never wake up.
