Notes:

Hiii my horny people,
Sooo, this is my first The Pitt fanfiction, and I’m kind of nervous. :)
I personally have a MASSIVE crush on Robby🫦

Just so you all know, I’m not in the medical field by any means! I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing, and I use Google for most of the medical terminology and storylines.

This story also briefly touches on Robby’s depression, PTSD, and the loss of a parent.

Please feel free to leave comments about anything—things you like, things you don’t like, criticism, hopes, wishes, or suggestions. I’d love to hear your thoughts! :)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

The automatic doors slid open with a soft hiss.

For a moment, Mia Chavez stood completely still.

The bright lights of the Emergency Department of the PTMC stretched out before her. Nurses moved quickly between patients, monitors beeped in the distance, phones rang, and voices overlapped in a constant rhythm of urgency. Everything seemed louder, faster, and more important than she had imagined.

This was it.

Her first day of her rotation in the ED.

Taking a deep breath, Mia adjusted the strap of her bag and stepped inside the emergency room for the very first time.

The smell of disinfectant filled the air. Doctors in scrubs hurried past her, discussing test results and treatment plans. Somewhere nearby, a patient laughed while another cried. Life and death existed side by side here, separated only by a curtain or a few hurried footsteps.

Mia felt her heart pounding against her ribs.

She had spent years dreaming for this moment. Countless nights with textbooks spread across her desk. And now she is in her third year and starts her rotation in emergency medicine.

Mia Chavez was going to become a doctor.

The thought still felt unreal.

Growing up, nobody in her family had ever worked in medicine. In fact, she would be the first doctor the Chavez family had ever produced. Her parents had worked hard their entire lives to provide opportunities they never had themselves. They had always supported her dream, even when it seemed impossible.

Especially when it seemed impossible.

She remembered sitting at the kitchen table as a teenager, telling her family that she wanted to be a physician. Some people had doubted her. Others had questioned whether she could handle the years of training.

But her family never doubted her.

Not once.

Now every sacrifice, every late-night study session, and every moment of uncertainty had led her here—to the emergency department of one of the busiest hospitals in the city.

“Chavez?”

The voice pulled her from her thoughts.

She turned to see a young man in black scrubs approaching her. He had blonde, slighty curly hair that were a little bit longer on the back of his head.

“You must be the one of the new medical student.”

Mia smiled nervously.

“Yeah, that's me.”

“Good. Follow me. Things move fast around here.”

"Oh i am Dennis Whitaker by the way you will be under my wing"

Mia nodded and quickly fell into step beside him.

As they walked deeper into the department, she couldn’t help looking around. Patients filled nearly every room. Nurses moved efficiently from bed to bed. Doctors reviewed charts while discussing diagnoses.

Everything was happening at once.

"Those are the other med students Ogilvie and Joy"

"Hi im Mia chavez and in my MS4" she said giving a small smile.

The other two gave a a soft smile and followed.

This is where she belonged.

And somehow, instead of feeling overwhelmed, Mia felt excited

A elderly but chic looking woman glanced at her.

“Nervous?”

“A little.”

The woman laughed.

“That’s normal. If you weren’t nervous on your first day in the ER, I’d be worried.”

Mia smiled.

"I am Dana the charge nurse for the day shift" she said very calm.

The knot in her stomach loosened slightly.

Maybe she didn’t know everything yet. Maybe she still had years of training ahead of her. But she had worked too hard to doubt herself now.

As they stopped right at the main’ station, Mia looked around one more time.

The emergency department buzzed with life.

With possibilities.

With challenges she couldn’t even imagine yet.

She had no idea that this place and the Chief of this place would change her life forever.

All she knew was that she had finally taken the first step.

And there was no turning back.
